Does anyone think we'll ever see a 1/35 BTR-60 by a major company (Trump, DML, etc..)?
If we do, I'd bet it will be from Trumpeter. They're pretty good on listening to what it's customers want...

Only a few days ago Trumpeters R+D guy who regularly posts on the forums showed some pictures of a BTR-60P that they are working on. So in answer to your question yes we will see such a vehicle from Trumpeter, apparently along with BTR-70's and 80's.

Rob do you have a link to those pics?
Lets hope they do a BTR-70 they have been talking about it for ages. Still at least for BTR-70 and BTR-80 there are some kits on the market you could work from. I'll be interested to see if trumpys BTR's address issues better than their T-62's.

Yes - Gayuoe showed us a shot of a BTR-70 master and said that they would be doing the whole series. BTR40 to BTR80. I just love the little BTR40 -kinda like an armored bug..... .
Jon I too hope that they'll be solid kits. Don't get me wrong I never expect a perfect kit, what would be the fun in that? Just get the basics right at least.

I had emailed Gaoyue "iamsu7" previously while I was buidling Zvezda's BRT-80A. He did confirm that Trumpeter is coming out with BTR 40 to 80 kits. However, the expected production is not until late 2011. From CAD images he showed us here, which are unfortunately gone now, they look much better than Zvezda's not so pleasant kits.

it's not Zvezda, it's repack of old Dragon kits.
New Zvezda is much bettre: check their BMD series kit - it's top notch

I agree with Anton that some of Zvezda's own kits have been very good recently. That's why I'm looking forward to their T-90.
As for their BTR's they can build up into a decent kit with a little work, some PE, resin wheels, and metal barrel.

The only real big problems with the BTR series that DML first put and rebox by Revell and now Zvezda is the inaccuracies with the angle of some of the plates. I found this out when trying to build my BTR-3, the lower hull doen't even match up with some of the scale drawings I have of it. As Jon mentioned, with a litle TLC they can turn into nice models, but still far short of what could something simple out of the box. That's why I can't wait to see what trumpeter comes out with, still knowing trumpy, their not going to be 100% correct, but still light years ahead of the older kit we still have to work with.

I agree, Trumpeter has some nice plans for us... including some BTR-60īs.
As I remembered correctly, I we saw 2 in-progress images of two vehicles of the BTR-60 series.
greetings...

That's exactly what I'm talking about- a little work of many hours, PE = $20, resin wheels = $30, and metal barrel = $15. Not so pleasant to my wallet. The Zvezda kit will be close to $100 in order to be decent when Trump kit with a simple PE set will look much better. Let us wait and see.

Very nice Please hurry up and get this one on the market, I'm tired of spending too much money and time to bring the older DML kits up to some sort standards.

DAMN!!! That looks so much better than Zvezda's BTR-80A! Gaoyue, you need to stop teasing us. I must say Trumpeter has improved so fast within just few years and is coming out with great stuff so often!

Yes, youre right.
There is a small fit-problem. But Iīm sure, this one will be solved.
The details of the vehicle looks better than on my BTR-80!
(made by Dragon/ Italeri)
I think, this BTR-80A would be a good addition (or replacement) for these kits.
But I didnīt made a direct comparison of the existing kits with -big Tīs- version and the original.

Damon,
Hello, newbie. That topic should be addressed in armor/AFV US modern section and has nothing to do with BTR's.
