Greetings One and All,
I recently got around to finnishing a Sherman III that has been sitting around in my “must get around to finishing one day” pile, for about the last 15 plus years The basic kit is the Tamiya M4 Sherman Early Production with a Verlinden M4A2 hull. I added some scratch built details and painted it with Vallejo Air, as a vehicle used by the New Zealand Armoured Regiment in Italy.
Not built for accuracy, just the fun of it

cheers

That's a darn good looking model. Building "for the fun of it" is definately the way to go.

Really nice Sherman, David! I especially like the stowage and the finish you achieved on tools. Well done!

Hi Good Sirs,

many thanks for the comments.

@ Chris: fun is what's it's about, but when the base coat reacted with the thinner I used, fun was not a word that came to mind.

@ Micheal: most of the stowage came from the spares box(es), with the two large bins being scratchbuilt. With the tools, I removed the moulded on straps and then scratchbuilt the straps and tiedown loops from foil and painted them with Vallejo paints.

Cheers
David

Looks very nice David, I personally would have favored a bit more in the way of weathering, but I still really like what you did here.

There is an upcoming Land Down Under campaign for Australia and New Zealand, any chance you would be interested in joining us?

Hi Jeremy

many thanks, I like to keep the weathering light side, still coming to grips with these new fangled pigment things

As for the Land Down Under campaign, signed the dotted line this morning.

Cheers

I'm not even sure that I want to try pigments out just yet. If they weren't so expensive then I wouldn't be so reserved about buying some and experimenting with them.

Glad to see both of you joining the Land Down Under campaign David and Thomo, it looks like it's going to be a real fun campaign

Not real pigments, the poor man's version, pastels
I grind them up and mix to to get the colour I am after, then disolve them in water with a few drops of isopropanol (Tamiya thinners) and then spray it on the model. Keep the mixture very thin and just build it up slowly.

cheers
