Hello Everyone,

I've finally finished the LAV III/Coyote/Bison Series DVD with 5000+ photos on it. Any interested parties please email me at [email protected] for more details. Unfortunately I didn't get as many operational photos of the Coyote as I would have liked, sorry, didn't see many, just lots of photos of a new coyote in the KAF Parking depot.
Also, the Leo 1 and Leo 2 Series are still availiable.
Someone asked me how I managed so many photos of so many vehicles. All i can say is location location. I was lucky that my generating gear was in the same depot as the vehicles. Also alot of the newer vehicles arrived during my tour. I also had old friends from my armoured corps days who accomodated me, and i skipped alot of meals to shoot photos instead. As well, I was at MSG with the leopards for most of my tour.
I wanted to ask those that have recieved the DVDs to please put any positive or negative critique on this forum.
I have recieved emails from some of you requesting copies, and after replying i have not heard from you. I am wondering if my emails are getting to everyone.
Anyways, a couple of teasers follow, enjoy.

Hey Ken - email inbound!

For those of you considering purchasing one of Ken's disks, do so with confidence. Ken is a very courteous and efficient vendor, and the value of his photos to the modeler is inestimable.

I have previously purchased the Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 disks, and I can state that I am deliriously happy with both! Each disk is packed with so many photos that for the first time ever I have thought that this is possibly too much reference material to digest fully!

Cheers - Dan

Hello all
I have the 2 first DVD's (Leo 1 and 2) and must says there're fantastic value for money (worth far more than Ken sells it but don't say that to him )!

You have some modern canadian models to build ... then ... don't miss it.

Stéphane
ps: i have no link with the vendor and paid mine!

OK, here's the skinny on a very full photo DVD.......

The DVD contains as Ken said at the top over 5000 images....amazing!

It contains the following.....

LAV III

The folders are broken down as follows....

LAV III Walkaround- shows LAV IIIs with add-on armour but without kit. This LAV III was photographed in October 2007 and does not have all the later mods such as the turret and rear blast shields, new side stowage, extended jerry can racks, or new antenna mounts. It is a bare bones LAV III showing an overview of the external details.

Hull Front Area- shows all the details from the front wheels up to the front deck and glacis plate area.

Light Clusters and Mirror Areas- all round detail views of these areas.

Driver's Hatch Area- self explanatory....interior and exterior details.

Hull Exhaust Intake Area- the upper deck grills in detail.

Turret Ring Area- All angles of the turret ring and the mounting points for the rear blast shields.

Hull Upper Rear Area- the rear upper hull hatches exterior and interior and the blast shield.

Hull Left- front to back and bottom to top....excellent details shown.

Hull Right- same as per the left side.

Hull Rear- Under the hull, the light clusters, the spare wheel attachments, the rear door....nothing left unseen.

Winch Area and System- everything you need to see about the winch including the drums, front hull rollers, and rear hull pulleys.

Fuel Tanks- all angles covered and details such as the filler caps and hinges.

Rear Stowage Brackets- all the details of the rear hull brackets for the external stowage box.

Wheels and Wheel Well Details- wheels, tires, brakes lines, add-on armour attachment points, shocks, strut housings.

Suspension and Drive Train- Ken obviously spent a great deal of time under a LAV III to get all these images.

Turret General Views- an overall turret walkaround....shows good dust and oil accumulations.

M242 25 mm Gun- great images of the overall barrel....and the muzzle and the exterior gun mount.

Mantlet Area- every little detail from on top to the cover to the underside to the coax port to the gun camera.

Wire Cutter- details of the wire cutter on the turret.

MBGDs- fantastic detail shots of the MBGD clusters....no one should ask anymore where the retaining chains go.

MG Mount- Very nice images of the basic mount and showing a C6 in the mount with ammo can...other images also show how the crew stows maps, gloves, and a GPS on the turret.

Turret Hatch Areas- hatches interior and exterior, periscopes, hinges, and locking mechanisms.

Turret Sight Areas- sights, optics....great for getting the correct colours, and soft covers.

Turret sides, rear, and stowage baskets- everything you need to know so you can build your LAV III turret baskets properly without going insane.

Antenna Areas- antenna mounts on the turret rear and front left......these are the older style antenna mounts with the coiled springs.

Laser Threat Receiver- also known as the Laser Warning Receiver....an multi-view of the device, the sensors, and the turret mount.

LAV III Operational- a ton of images showing LAV IIIs ready for deployment with full kit and weathering. The images show a variety of warning signs to civilians, improvised hull stowage using the Hesco Bastion wire sections, a transition from the original antenna mounts to the T shaped antenna mounts, pioneer tool stowage and weathering, endless amount of stowage straps on the hull, crew applied names and battle art, improvised extended jerry can racks, improvised cots stowage racks, turret stowage, and excellent views of the actual vehicles ready for combat operations.

The LAV III portion of the DVD is for sure the most extensive look at the LAV III that I have seen to date.....excellent information provided for any modeller looking at building a LAV III in particular circa 2007 buit any year with the overall basic details provided.

Next portion of the DVD to follow....the Coyote......

The Coyote folders.....

Walkaround- Overall images of a base bound fairly new uparmoured Coyote in NATO green with original antenna mounts and no blast shields.

Hull Front- From the ground upwards to the glacis plate area. Good images of the wire cutter, winch guide roller, licence plate mount, add-on armour panels.

Hull Left Side- From the nose and moving alond the left side to show all the panels, hatches, and stowage.

Hull Right Side- Ditto as per the left side.

Hull Rear- Covers the doors, hinges, taillights, connections, tow pintles, and licence plate.

Hull Front light clusters and mirrors- all those tricky little wire guards and light wiring and mirror mounts are shown in detail.

Driver's hatch area- Great views of the hatch and the pivoting hinge, optics, and the anti-slip surfacing.

Hull radiator Intake Area- The engine grills in all their glory.

Exhaust Muffler Area- very nice close up images of all sides of the exhaust.

Back Deck Area- shows the rear upper hatches and the add-on armour.

Rear Light Areas- rear taillights and antenna mount.

Fuel Tanks- Good detail shots of the fuel tanks and the fuel cap hinged cover.

Wheel Well Details- Struts and Coils, double shocks, add-on armour, brake and vent lines.

Suspension and Drivetrain- Once again Ken spent a long time under a Coyote to take great photos of all aspects of the underside.

Wheels- Nice images of the XML tires and original hubs.

Turet Ring Area- Nice details of the turret ring exterior and the add-on armour.

M242 25 MM Gun- the exterior of the chain gun is caprtured as well as the coax port and weld seams.

Mantlet Area- Very nice images of the mantlet and details including the rubberized dust shroud and how must dust it accumulates.

MBGDs- lots of great images of the grenade dischargers and the mounts.

Turret MG Support- all the little bits and details of the MG mount are shown.

Turret Wire Cutter- Nice images of the wire cutter shown folded down.

Turret Sights- All sides of the sights covered very well....you can even catch Ken's reflection in some of the images of the optics!

Turret Hatches- The exterior of the two hatches are covered very well with super images.

Turret Phone Box- the turret mounted communication box fitted to the right front antenna mounted is shown in detail including the caps and retaining wires.

Turret Sides and Stowage- all the bins are shown in detail.

Laser Warning Reciever and Antennae- closeup images of the LWR and the antenna mounts.

Operational Coyotes- Only 10 images of combat ready Coyotes but the weathering and stowage is great to see.

The Coyote images will for sure assist anyone building a Coyote....remember that the images are from 2007 and do not include the T antennas or the blast shields.....but you get tons of super images of the rest of the vehicle.

Next up.....the Bison variants.....

The Bison......

Bison Details-

Walkaround- a good generic walkaround of a clean uparmoured Bison.

Front- nice images showing the lower and upper front hull and includes the spare tire rack and upper glacis area.

Left Side- From the nose to the rear and shows the various details of the hull side.

Right Side- Details of the right side including some artwork.

Rear- ramp, fuel tanks, lights, licence plate, jerry can racks, tow pintles, and electrical connections.

Hatches and Radiator Area- top and side views of the driver's hatch, commander's hatch, and engine grills.

Back Deck Area- good images of the stowage box and MBGD layout.

Wheel Well Details- Inner hull, add-on armour, struts and springs, shocks, and brake and vent lines.

Suspension and Drive Train- Under the big old Bison.....Ken must have been looking for a shady spot.

There is also a folder full of an Operational Bison images taken in 2007. The images show the wear and tear on the vehicles, tow cable stowage, and tactical markings.

The next folder shows a Bison Ambulance and all the details of that particular vehicle. It shows great stowage and unique carrying of a spare tire on the hull roof as well as a variety of other well weathered items.

The next folder shows more operational Bisons in 2008.....some with visible NATO cam on the rear hull and ramp as well as field improvised extended wire cutters for the crew.

Next up more Bison variants......

OK, the Bison MRV folders.....

Walkaround- Images showing a kitted and ready to go Bison MRV.

Dozer Details- The blade, the mount, attachment points, wiring, light clusters, and pintles....lots of great images for those keen to scratch build the dozer.

Front- Images of the upper glacis plate.

Left Side- Images showing the various fitting and stowage and hatches....open and closed.

Right Side- Images showing close up details of the MBGDs, and stowage racks.

Rear- Unique details of the MRV rear hull and interior of the rear doors.

Hatch's and Radiator Area- Engine grills, driver's hatch, and the commander's hatch showing a C6 mounted on the pintle.

Rear Deck Area- The upper rear deck showing the dust and dirt accumulation of a kitted MRV. Great views of water bottles, water bottle boxes, cables, hoses, the whoopee light, and filthy jerry cans.

There is a small additional folder that Ken includes and it is important to read as it gives details explaining how one of the LAV IIIs in the images was personalized as a memorial to two soldiers killed in action. Take the time to read the words Ken has taken the time to write.

That's all the contents of the DVD.....Holy Moly!!!

Ken, fantastic job of taking photos and organizing them for any modeller to use and stare at for hours and hours.

I will return soon with the breakdown of the Ken's newest DVD .....Canadian M113/TLAV Series AFVs in Afghanistan 2007/2008.

Hi guys,

I just got my dvd in the post today.. All I can say is that if you are in the least bit interested in the LAV III then you MUST get this invaluable reference source. I have around 700 to 800 photos that I have found while cruising the net and none of them have been as useful as Ken's dvd.... and at such a reasonable price

A BIG thanks to Ken for making these photos available to us... THANKS!!!

Phil.

Received my DVD to-day. Have to say that all the shots are outstanding and will come in useful when finishing with all the detail work. However was a little disappointed in the fact that no shots of the vehicle interior were included. As a scratch builder that would have been an added benefit. All in all still worth the money.
