Hi All

I am trying to get information on equipment captured and used by the British since WW1, I know of the Panther G Cuckoo but was interested to see if there was any other vehicles etc. If anyone can help with links to info or pics that would be great.

Thanks

Tony

Polish troops seriving with the British in N Africa had some Panzer III but they apparently were not used in combat.

Australians used captured M11/39 and M 13/40 tanks

I seem to recall seeing some pics of a British unit using an Sdkfz 138 Ausf. M Marder III.... I think it may have been in the Nuts and Bolts volume on the Marder... but not sure. Can anyone confirm or correc that info?

The DML Marder III M kit # 6464 has markings for a vehicle captured and used by the British Mozza Grogna Italy 1943.

Concord British Armour in Sicily and Italy, page 24 and 25 has two pictures of a Marder III M that matches the above kit, but is missing the AoS sign and the regimental insignia on the right rear corner (not sure it they were applied to the front of the vehicle)

Yep, the pics Darryl mentions are also in the Nuts & Bolts Marder III book. There are 6 photos on pp48 & 49.

Also, there is one photo of a Marder III used by the US 45th Infantry Division, also in Italy.

The British used a lot of captured Italian Modelo 35 Breda 20 mm AT/AA guns, both in fixed installations and mounted in LRDG gun trucks.

The British used captures 88mm AA guns. There are a few pictures in Piekalkiewicz book on the gun. And either the US or the British even published a manual on "how to use".

Judging from the Brits tendency to "aquire" equipment during 1980s NATO exercises the rule was "Anything not nailed down is mine. Anything I can pry loose is not nailed down"

There are a pair of interesting images of German SdFfz.222 ACs, captured by British forces.

The Canadians in Italy captured & used a Semovente 75mm SP. There is some National Film Board or CBC footage of it in action (somewhere).
