Hi Gang, I was browsing through my Pocketbond Catalogue this morning when my eyes fell on the Maquette 1/35th scale T-122 Self Propelled Gun kit - I WANT ONE !!.
My problem is where can i obtain this magnificent beast ? - any leads or recommendations would be appreciated.

This is a very rare item , so i suggest you buy the accurate armour conversion insted this horrible kit. The accurate armor version has some form issues but it is far better than the maquette one.There is a quite good barrel for this from the rb.

If you can't find one, you could always make one. as a conversion, it's a minor but enjoyable challenge.

You'll need Dragon 3318, some white plastic, the Skif D-30, and an RB Barrel. And a reference.

If you do find one, I still recommend the RB barrel, as the offering in the Maquette kit is extremely poor. In fact, I'd recommend getting the dragon kit and using the Maquette turret. The Maquette T-34 isn't bad, but the wheels are.

And yessss... the AA conversion would be the preferable choice, but get the RB Barrel as well. You won't regret it.

I have the T-122 resin turret set. I think it was from Pond Models? I want to say its the same one but with out the white metal parts. The resin is pretty rough. but it did come with a metal barrel and WM muzzle brake. If you really want to punish yourself I can sell it to you......

Thanks for the replies guys - i think i`ll save up my pennies for the AA conversion as it seems to be the best way to go.
I just could just imagine it giving some stick to an Israeli position somewhere in the sinai !!

Coming in a bit late but the AA kit is way better than the Maquette one. I have the Maquette one and the turret is sunken a bit in the middle on top and overall the casting of all the parts are not as crisp as the AA kit. The barrel was warped and my version has all resin parts. I think at one point there were metal casting for some pieces. The muzzel break is a wasted blob of resin. I am putting the work in to fix mine up as it only cost me $20 Cdn. The Maquette wheels are bad. I have three sets and am hoping to get two usable sets from that. I also have the Maquette T-34/100, again only $20, which has its share of issues to. I am going to use the ICM BS-3 barrel to replace the warped resin on provided by Maquette on the 100. I have the RB barrel for the 122 and it is great.

I agree that AA offers some of the finest resin kits. I have built several and am never disappointed. That said, that Maquette kit will work if you're on a budget. I don't have the time/ability to upload photos of mine right now, but can later if you want.

Just discovered there is a photo of one right here in my gallery. I cheated and used Esci T-55 wheels. I must have built this one back before better stuff was available. It has been quite a while. As a happy co-incidence, there's also an ole in progress photo of my AA T-34/100 in there as well.

IF you are lucky to lay your hands on a Maquette kit it is usualy overpriced. The T-34/122 from Maquette is not exactly a example in excellence and since it is a rare kit you pay more of a collectors price. Like the others have said, considering quality you are better of with the AA conversion. Add the RB models barrel, a set of T-34/85M wheels from the old Dragon T-34/85 NVA kit and you're of on a good start!

Or...you go nuts like I have and scratchbuild the turret complete with interior.

Gosh, a five year old thread pops up and it has my name on it. Oh dear...

Considering the link, I've decided to discontinu my website at the end of last year for reasons of not finding the desire to maintain it anymore. At the rate of me completing scale models these days, there's not much to add to my website anyhow. I was adding maybe a model or two to the website in a single year which meant the few visitors that passed by got bored rather quickly. What's the point in have a website that's as stale as old bread?

So I'm very sorry that you cannot have a peek at the T-34/122 I've build 7 years ago. Some of my work still can be found on the web that never forgets.

I did the same as some folks have done here...scratch build your own. The Marquette kit is horrible. There are plenty of pics all over the net on this vehicle as well. I was lucky enough to photograph the vehicle in person back in the late 70's in Israel which prompted me to scratch the turret before anything aftermarket came along. Speaking of aftermarket, I've since changed the main gun with a RB barrel, and to switch to Friul tracks. Everything else is scavenged from other kits, PE, and typical home supplied remedies/hardware. The access hatches on the very top of the turret I could not photograph back then, so, the hatch arrangement is my own logical build. I might change that at a future date. Be aware though...this build too me over 5 months to do...it could be that involved for you as well.

Instead of the 5 or 6 models a year it is now more like 1 or 2.
