This is my first post of a completed project. I have been out of the hobby for seventeen years, starting back in 2009. My favorite subject is Deutsches Afrika Korps and I have been building the various vehicles used by Rommel from 1941 through 1942.
First off I want to thank Bill Plunk for his build post of a Pz Kpfw III Ausf G which I have somewhat copied plus storage. The subject was obtained from a photo of a 5th Leichte Div. P Kpfw III Ausf G taken in June 1941. The subject is in a big hurry to some where. The date possibly gives a cue, the British "Operation Battleaxe" with objectives of taking back Halfaya Pass, Fort Capuzzo and Sollum, then the relief of Tobruk. The operation was met by the 5th Leichte and 15.Pz Div, with Rommel's DAK forces far out numbered, wwith superior tactics saving the day.
This project was my third or fourth project. Please provide your comments, suggestions woulf d be appreciated. I am looking for a couple of figures but have not decided yet, hence the open commanders hatch and the kits lack of detail exposed.

Pretty good for being a first, after a 17 year hiatus. The camoflage should be a bit more yellow and the tracks should be oxide red. Almost all of the German tanks have a oxide red basecoat. Have you painted the interior grey or just left the color it is molded in? I believe that German tanks are either ivory or grun grau in color. What technique did you use to weather the camo? I'm planning on building a Tiger variant and intend to pull out all the stops. Expcet for the innaccuracies, a very well done build. Keep them coming.

Nice to have you back in the craft. Keep up the good work. Don't hesitate to experiment with new techniques and you will back up to speed in no time at all. Nice work.

Matt;
Thank you for the reply. I use Vallejo paints primarily. The base color and camo are Vallejo 879 Green Brown (8000 Grunbraun) and 880 Khaki Gray (7008 Grungrau), the 1941 colors. I applied a pin wash and filter, both dark brown MIG, then MIG pigment. The Frui tracks were painted Vallejo 304 Track Primer, steel on wear points and Pigments. The interior was left basicaly unpainted with an attempt to paint it interior buff afterwards. I evidently missed a spot. I will take care of that. The Machinegun 34 is JB Models brass as is the main tank barrel.

The color of the "G" is affected by the photos as it appears to have more of a yellow tint to the naked eye. I have tweaked it a little, made some minor fixes that showes d up in the photos, see attached. Thank you
