Hello

Back to this build i started a while ago... Tamiya`s T-55 turret re-worked to depict overhang at rear, and includes commanders cupola comb with welded collar. Hatch cover comes from AA Enigma conversion set. Early type barrel with counterweight made from a
T-55 Aluminium barrel [forget make] , engine deck, radiator cover in progress
to correct type for model. Tracks are actually the set you get in Trumpeters T-62
model 72 kit, all links have been drilled out to become workable..[times are hard] cant afford to buy aftermarket at the moment. rear final drive covers are kit ones altered to early type. Sprockets are the ones i mastered a while ago.
Weld bead altered and made by masking area and using mr Surfacer. Its going to be in an abandoned state, so most Zip boxes and fuel cells etc will be left off....although the new zip boxes from Tank workshop are very nice and whoever did the Masters did a good job of getting the stamp pattern in the lid correct. The only thing i cant find is a decent pic of wether or not these vehicles had the larger hub at the first wheel station or had that feature added during the upgrades?..Front tow hooks and mantlet are from Mig productions.

Thanks
Andy

Nice work Andy. Of course, your work is always good.
You didn't drill those links by hand, did you?
Plan to do so myself just to do it, have yet to make the jigs for drill press. Too many plans and projects.
I haven't seen a larger front wheel bearing on any T-54 images, upgraded or not. But then again, thats a pretty small sample, so I can't reliably help there.
admire your work,
James

So far i'm looking forward to seeing your kit finished

Cheers

Andy,

Very inspiring as always. Just sent Graham an order for a turret that I'll collect at Telford.

The only 1949 photo I have that show the side/road wheels is one of the photos of that Cambodian vehicle we discussed some years ago on M-L. I'm not really sure what to think of it. Seem that they all are of the same size(?).

Cheers,
/E

I asked you to show pictures because I noticed that you do not understand where did reinfortsed wheel hubs on T-54-2?
As I know this is a T-55 detail.
OR...may be you have pictures of T-54-2 with it?

I read it
"The only thing i cant find is a decent pic of wether or not these vehicles had the larger hub at the first wheel station or had that feature added during the upgrades?"
so I wrote
"I noticed that you do not understand where did reinfortsed wheel hubs on T-54-2"

Thanks guy`s

First stages of weathering....will be using oils for the dusting, after more work to the layering of more depth to the rust tones. A full article will appear in a future issue of Model Military..

This is awesome Andy!

Not sure if you're into fps video games, but if you are they are coming out with a Vietnam expansion for Battlefield Bad Company 2 that is going to feature the T-54. I'm looking forward to seeing how well they built up the virtual model in 3D.
