Hey Everyone

I finished this Diorama about 2 months ago. I'd like to first thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and their assistance on the build. After repeated PMs to post some pictures... well you've twisted my rubber arm.

The figures are Dragon Dieppe Naval troops & Alpine german soldiers.

The ground work is a mix of Woodland Scenics Medium Grey ballast and Busch of Germany Ballast (tan and white). Special Thanks to Chris Meddings for the recommendation and the great read on this shingle beach method in Military Modelling Magazine Issue October 2009. Highly Recommended!

Chris - I couldn't get ahold of the Busch Grey Ballast... If I had my shingle would have turned out better.

Please note that the shingle beach at Dieppe is long and the tide and current patterns during 1942 & today vary which results in the deposition of different sorted stones on the beach. A close friend of mine sent me pictures of the actual Dieppe Beach which became extremely valuable. Upon comparison to the modern day images and those from Through The Lens, there were smaller stones around Bolster and Helen and the Busch Ballast were perfect.

I hope you all enjoy my finished pictures! Thanks for holding your collective breathes and pestering me to post some images! Cheers!

I named my Diorama "Strangers on the Shore" as I felt it was very fitting for the scene I was trying to depict. I got the idea from listening to my IPod... when Strangers On The Shore by Acker Bilk came on.... I enjoy oldies music... what can I say...

ABOUT TIME.

This turned out spectacular. The real question is which publication can we expect to see this in?

Congrats Carmen, very well done. You have really outdone yourself this time around

Nothing else to say except Bravo Carmen to my mind its a tour de force, really superb modelling finished with great style

Having had a go at a few dieppe builds myself, I know how much work is involved, and of course your blogs detailled it all. Really great stuff

Your hard work paid off. The models themselves are great details on their own and the ballast looks to be the proper scale. The figures are well painted and I really enjoy the hint of water on the shore.

An outstanding diorama.

Its not only the execution thats is outstanding, but the choice of topic is good and the whole piece tells a story.

Very well done. The builds are great and the scene looks just right. I love the water effect you created at the shore.

After watching your progress on both vehicles it's great to see this as a team. The beach and water look very convincing. Great Job! I think it's time for a feature covering the build of both vehicles and the dio here on Armorama, don't you?

Carry on!

Terrific, excellent modeling. I plan to do a dio. from some pictures that my dad took in the war. I'm not half bad at this stuff but it would be pure luck if I can pull it off as well as you did.........Al

Jolly good work Carmen!
It really pays off with the small details and placements when you have good reference. I like the research you bothered to unddertake on the 'right' shingles. Bravo
