Last spring I bought a Trumpeter LAV-A2 kit with the intention of doing a conversion to a Canadian Coyote. It was the only LAV-25 kit available at my local shop. I then bought a conversion kit from Real Model. Each review or build I see uses one of the older Trumpeter kits (the Piranha or the ASLAV) as the base. I'm wondering if I can still use my LAV-A2 or would it be more prudent to find one of the other kits.

Considering that the Real Model conversion pretty much replaces everything but the lower hull and suspension....and those parts I believe are all the same through all of the different Trumpeter LAV kits....so I don't see why you couldn't use it.
I am sure Miloslav will probably see this, so hopefully he can weigh in on it as well.

Hi,
You must use ASLAV LAV-A2, as have many other parts (mainly turret) and kit no include turret basket.

Thanks Miloslav, that clears things up. I'll just have to find one; though i'll have to hone my abilities a bit before I take on the conversion. I've only just started building models again after a long, long time.

Thanks Anthony! It'll be a while before I start that one as I said. I'll practise with a few other less intimidating ones, like the LAV-A2 and the Trumpeter LAV-TUA I've got in the painting stage. I'm just completing a pre-weathered Tamiya M1A1and a couple of Humvees. So lots on the go before the big scary one!
