Well today I bought the Trumpeter LAV III TUA I'm wondering if anybody else has bought this kit, I know this vehicle is in service as an Infantry Section Vehicle so I'm wondering if there is currently a kit to replicate the Nanuk RWS? So maybe I could make it look like an ISC in Afghanistan.

Yes, not a bad kit fit wise. The main fault is that it sports the AoA package.

I hadn't heard that. I know they were at one time crewed by PPCLI attached to the LdSH(RC), but I as for them being used as ISC, that is news to me

No kit yet. There will be a LAV-RWS photo essay coming up in Military In scale. The LAV-RWS I have seen in Aghanistan all appear to be based on LAV-III (25mm turret) hulls. AFAIK the TUA -> RWS conversions are not finished yet.

Ok well maybe I'll build it as a theoretical LAV variant to keep things simple for myself. I found out about the TUA no-go thing on CASR a little while back so I'm not sure what truth there is too it but here's the article.

Or you could build it without the AoA package to make it a more realistic TUA. Most of the panels on the launcher are separate, so it would just be a matter of leaving them off and gluing on some styrene rod attachment points.
For the hull, you could fill in the cracks between the panels, and just chisel/sand the bold heads off.
The CASR site is not bad. Yes, the LAV-TUA fleet is to be re-roled. But of the 77 or so LAV TUA that were ordered, only 30 +/- were actually built. Therefore it is my assumption that the first batch of LAV RWS were based on yet-to-be-modified LAV-TUA hulls, hence the reason they look like they are based on LAV-III 25mm.

Ah ok, so is the CF going away from the 25mm turret on the LAV III's? And going with a Stryker type setup? What will happen with the TUA turrets are they just going to sit in a shop waiting for a war with armour like in the Balkans?

Hey, maybe they will put them on the TLAV hulls...an M113A3 TLAV-TUA ....or the extended MTV hulls....an MTVT....LOL.....they would make get WOTIF projects! Tis the Canadian way to never throw any kit away.

That would be pretty cool with the extended hull they could hold more missiles, plus the soucy rubber tracks sure would make them quieter than the older A2's.

Nope. The LAV-III with 25mm turret are being retained (and eventually upgraded to LAV-UP, but that's another story).
Just those 30-odd LAV hulls that were initially going to be converted to TUA are instead being converted to RWS. The remaining TUA that were built will also be converted to RWS (for the most part - there is talk of other LAV variants)

What will happen with the TUA turrets ?
That's a good question. They may be divested and turned into razor blades, or they may be sold off, or they may be kept in a warehouse waiting to be plonked onto a MTV hull!

The TUA turrets are going back to the manufacture, some might go to War Stock.

Well here's some pictures of what I have accomplished I'm going to do a desert tan paint job and have done sort of a primer coat prior to adding some of the other accessories so areas that would get missed by the airbrush get an even coat.
