Hi guys

Been working on this one for the last couple of months so I thought I would post it up. It is dragon's Porsche king tiger with zimmerit. The pe is a mix of eduard and dragon and the tacks were replaced with fruils. This was my first attempt with furil tracks. Also the first time using blacken it on the tracks which came out well i think. Painted with tamiya and vejello acrylics and weathered with oils and mig pigments. It's not entirely finished, still need to add the crew and some stowage on the rear deck.

heres the pics, all feedback welcome

Even though it has a lot of firsts ... its looking great. Nice camo and weathering. It will be interesting to see it with stowage to add some contrast to the large blocks of flat colour. It might also diminish the only weakness on the model that I see ... the orange rust streaks running from the details. One or two of these would be OK, but as its the only thing contrasting to the camo, it stands out too much. See third images down.

I agree with Frank. Very nice camo job and weathering on its way. You may want to spray a filters over the model to help break up the monotany of the camo. Otherwise a very clean build.

Hi Frank and Matt,

Thanks for your comments. I agree about the rust streaks, way too thick. thats something on my list to clear up. I am also planning on doing some more washes to bring out some more detail. As far as extra stowage is concerned I will be adding a tow cable, maybe some ammo creates and jerry cans. I will also be adding some infantry hitching a ride on the rear deck.

Matt, when you say filters, im not what exactly sure what you mean. Could you explain what they are/why they are needed?

Cheers
Matt

Matt-- I understand that you applied tamiya and vejello acrylics but which brand and color did you use for the camo pattern?
thanks

Hi JD,

I used tamiya nato black for the base then i sprayed everything in tamiya dark yellow. For the green i used tamiya kakai darkend with nato black until i got the shade I wanted. I then oversprayed everything with tamiya buff to lighten the yellow and tie in the green. I then used vejello matt acrylic varnish to dull it all down.

Hope that helps!

Cheers
Matt

taking a second look at it, the model's colors don't contrast. a very smooth transition.

Hi guys,

Well I've been busy working on the king tiger. I have made a base, weathered the tiger some more, added some stowage and added a commander figure. For some reason my camera makes the base grass look very green when it's not! same with the wooden handles for the equipment.

My idea now is the kt is sitting out in the open having a long range slugging match. so i will be adding a couple more figures, some empty shell cases and a bit more stowage before it is finished.
