Hi,

I have several unfinished projects standing around my worktable, so it was time to finish something before I can start a new kit. This is one of the almost finished projects, no specific name, just a rebox from Dragon in a orange box from Cyberhobby. Nothing special, an old kit with some one decal set, which means that I could only finish this project in a wintercamouflage, because the figures are wearing winterclothes.

But I decided to make my own version, dark yellow, bit dirty, lot of stowage from Black Dog and two figures from Warriors.
The pictures:

I have to finish al the part, the Stugg, stowage and figures, so it's not totaly finished.

Hi Joh

This StuG looks very nice, well done.
But it uses the "wrong" sprockets. The central cover cap is missing.
Were only those sprockets in the kit?

Thanks Nils for the comment.

This where the only sprockets, so I had no choice

I dont think the sprockets are wrong ... just missing the hub caps. This could happen ... the caps were made from an alloy and not metal like the sprockets, and maybe were knoocked off or not replaced. I checked the #6009 kit, and the drive sprockets in the original kit are moulded with the cap in place. So this must be a new introduction .... have you checked the left overs? Dragon may have used the old drawings and forgot to include the updated extra part numbers??

What did you think about the Black Dog stowage set? How was the fit?
It looks good and I have been considering buying it.

The build looks good as is the painting, but I think you could have been a bit more adventurous with colours ... on both the tools and stowage/tarps. I think the stowage on the front also looks to be placed wrongly. The run of extra tracks maybe should be hung between the towing pintles (which explains the roundness) and not on the front armor!

Hi,

There was more missing on the kit, it's called a valuebox, but the value is missing. I have overlooked the sprues and found nothing that had to do with the sprocket then the parts that are already on the stug. Also missing is a part of the gunmantel.

I like the Black Dog parts, the are nicely casted, work fine and fit well and are not that expensive.

Thanks Joh. I got the Black Dog set for the Sd.Kfz 222/223 and think its fantastic. Things like the upgraded spare wheel cover are worth the price! Ive been considering the StuG set as well, but my problem is that I have the jaguar interior for the C/D and donŽt know if I want the big tarp!

Frank,

I have the idea that the Stugg set is also without the tarp, but I'm not sure. Otherwise you can let the tarp of, the rest of the set is ok. Otherwise, legend has also a nice stowage set for the Stug, without a tarp and the possibility to show the interior.
I use that for the Tamiya Stug auf G, because that kit is much nicer than these rebox kit from Dragon/Cyberhobby.

Hi Joh ... yeah youŽre right ... Legends is another good choice. I have some of their sets already. Lucky Model have both with free airmail ... so IŽll see. I like these stowage sets. They have more effect than an etch set and also allow you to add some colour and contrast.

Luckymodel is most of the time cheaper and fast with sending if it's in stock.

In de meantime I finished the Stug and offcourse it can beter, different, think about it, but I'm happy with the result and have put the Stug away. A new project is on the table, the Ontos with some extra parts.

But, before closing, the last pictures, hope you like them.

The figures look glossy. I'm not sure if it is because of the shading or that they still have a semi-gloss coat. I would hit it with dull coat again. Other than the aforementioned discrepencies, a very good build. Lots of detail painting.
