Hi all!
Finally I could finish something. This time itīs Trumpeters T-62 updated with homemade "Reshetka" Slat-Armor as seen 2008 driving through South Osetia. Tracks are wonderfull Masterclub ones. This was the first time I used "AKAN" acrylic paints. Was very surprised about their high quality. Special thanks to my hungarian fellows Tóth Tivadar and Kiss Richard from KP Models (www.kp-models.com) for providing me the paints!
The vegetation is from "MiniNatur" from Germany.
I tried to achieve some sort of dusty look instead of chipping it to death. I used Oils from Abteilung 502 for the dust.
Ok, enough talk, let me know what you all think!
And this one is for fun and was made by my friend Attila Baranyai:
All the best,
Andreas

Great work! REally nice job on the slat armour!
How did you find AKAN? I've been meaning to try them for some time for aircraft. What did you use for thinning? Or are they ready mixed like Vallejo Model Air?

Beautiful work Andreas! The model and paint job are stunning. But what I really love is the juxtaposition of the dusty brutal looking war machine on a pleasant grassy base with small flowers and vegetation growing peacefully-works really well!

Great work indeed Andreas!
Reshetka are scratchbuild?
Is Russian flag a decal or did you made it on paper?
Did you use just valleyo products for your stunning paint job?
Congrats!
Cheers

Hey Jon,
thank you very much! I found that the AKAN paints are excellent. You get the exact colors for russian hardware and softskin. No mix of different paints was necessary. Very good quality of paints and their pigments. I used water for thinning. The guys who gave them to me said, that I should ONLY use water. I didnīt try anything else. The paints are not thinned in the bottles, so thats one extra point. You get pure paint. If you are interested I can give you the contact to KP-Models, they sure will help you with the paints.
Rob,
thank you too. That was exactly one goal when I thought about the vegetation and the display of the model. Iīm happy it worked. Thanks again.
Mauro,
thank you too. Yes, the Reshetka was scratch build using Evergreen styrene and some artistic license^^ The flag is based on lead foil. Then I cut 6 stripes of tape and painted them. Then I glued the tape on the lead foil and bended it a little bit. Yes, I only used AKAN acrylic paints on this model. Im glad you like it.
Roy, thank you very much for your comment, Im glad you like it too.
Thank you all guys and all the best,

Hey Mauro,
Iīm sure you will master that vehicle + flag very well. Oh, that T-72 This will take some more time I guess. Have to finish that SA-8 which is now on my "weathering" bench + a KRAZ 255B from Minimanfactory. But letīs wait and see. Again, thank you very much for your compliments!
All the best,
Andreas

Hi Andreas, thats interesting to hear about AKAN.
I know KP from their aircraft kits, they Richard is releasing some nice planes at the moment!
I have a supplier for AKAN from Russia also.
What ratio did you thin it?

Hey Jon,
what are your experiences when ordering from russian suppliers? Just curious.
I thinned them about 30% paint and 70% water. It had some sort of "milky" optic. I sprayed in multiple layers. 2-3 to be exactly.

Hi Andreas, I've seen AKAN in armor35.ru and also armory.ua.in webstore from Ukraine.
I believe that Linden Hill were also stocking them for a time.
I've used armor35.ru a lot in the past with no problem. You have to make money transfer which is a pain, but service is always very good. Armory webstore accept paypal as an option also. I have never used armory myself, but I know a lot of aviation modellers who have and they said it was fine.

Steve and Iking, thank you very much!
Iking, the flag was done using 2 materials:
The flag is based on lead foile. Its thicker than alu-foil and makes "smoover" curves. I then cut 6 stripes out of usual tape. (the colored tape, its again thicker than usual tape) This stripes were airbrushed in the colors of the flag. Then the tape-stripes were glued on the lead foil. Thats all.
Thanks again,
Andreas
