Hey guys, I thought this would be the place to ask. The other day I bought an IT-28 off of ebay; but when it arrived,it had been scavenged for the bridge and the instruction sheet. I thought I had been ripped off (well...it was really cheap...) but after reading the ad, it was clearly stated that this was the case.
I decided that I would still use the kit to do something with, and started hunting. Wikipedia told me that several self-propelled gun variants were tried out. Some further hunting led me to the battlefield.ru site, where, conveniently the first in the picture bank is a side view line drawing of a T-28 SPG! Wow.
Now, my questions. I'd like to go ahead and convert my useless bridging tank into a weird variant. Are there any more line drawings or actual photos available of these prototypes? Are there any pre-1941 Russian artillery pieces available? I'm looking for something 76.2mm or bigger, but not as big as the new B-4 (although that would be AWESOME). I've tried looking around but all I've seen are a bunch of anti-tank guns of various calibers, an old Italeri towed 122mm kit, and bronco/miniarts F-22 guns.

Sadly, all self-propelled guns, based on T-28 tank chassis, were in projects only.

Yep, I know. Some more looking reveals that the Soviet Navy wanted a mobile coastal defense gun on the T-28 chassis. The gun to be used was the B-10, which was similar to the Br-2; which in turn was based on the same chassis as the B-4.
I think I'm going to go with a 'what if' prototype of a T-28 with a B-4, or maybe kitbash together a 152mm barrel from the B-10/Br-2, and use the mounting gear from the B-4 to stick it onto the T-28.
Edit:
It may or may not end up similar to the SU-14 prototype. The issue I may have is that the gun is simply to big for the chassis; or, that the gun and armor together would overburden the chassis, so it might be a softskin SP gun.

Alan produced a B-4 kit that might suit your needs. Not the easiest to find, you'll probably have to order it from Russia, but easier and less expensive than the Trumpeter kit.
There have been some long-standing questions about the accuracy of the IT-28's delivery system, so it might not have been that big of a loss
I have a Trumpeter B-4, the gun is huge but the T-28 suspension system could have handled the recoil. It would have looked like a miniature Karl Morser.

I thought Alan had come out with one...I didn't know trumpy did one until I kept seeing them on ebay. Oh well. Here is the T-35 mounted version, the SU-14. Kind of what I'll be going for but smaller.

I say to do it more the way it was mounted on the S-51 prototype:
Cooler looking IMNSHO.

Oh, ok. there was another picture I saw with the gun mounted like the S_51; but it appeared to small to be what I was looking to mount. It might end up looking like a Russian M7 Priest....uh...Patriarch.
