Hi guys, have been meaning to post a few pictures of my T34 that i have been working on for the past little while between stints with my stugIII. This is not really based on a perticular vehicle since refernces show the non spider wheel types? but just for fun i decided to base it on the T34/85 with bedspring armor and flame thrower from the video game Call of duty World at War. The pictures again were taken with my camera phone so I apologize they aren't the greatest. The true variation in the colours of the basecoat are hard to see in the photos.
tanks was primed with mr surfacer 1000, tamiya flat black for preshade and the lower hull/tracks, model master acrylic russian armor green heavily thinned for the base colour, oil dot modulation using raw/burnt umber, sap green, yellow ocher, white, black, prussian blue. the air ID stripe and unit number was hand painted with vallejo white. chipping was done with done with vallejo ger camo bright green and ger camo black brown, tracks painted with vallejo track primer and road wheels mix of black and dark rubber. Ice cleat straps are tan yellow and white with a sepia wash. Wood saw is humbrol enamel and handles ocher orange, leather brown grain and sepia wash.
The bedspring has been soldered and primed with mr surfacer and is awaiting to get a rusty metal look.
everything is a little stark right now, no filters or washes have been applied.
looking forward to finishing this beast.
thanks in advance
Jon

A very nice little kit. I like that you hand painted the markings. I did this with a KV-1 I built some time ago. Might I suggest dirtying up the tracks a little bit? Maybe some mud and rust?

Looks nice so far. I wonder how you will finish the tracks? This will look great under some dirt & grime for sure.

thanks guys. been busy with work and such the last while. This is just a progress shot so still lots of work to be done. The markings are hand painted with vallejo white, I chose that since I have read that the kit decals don't fit the turret very well. I still have to add a filter and couple different washes. I don't want to totally muck this guy up too much so the weathering on the tracks will be limited to a pigment wash with some flat coat added to add a touch of body to the sludge, and some metallic dry brushing. then the fun part hoping my bed spring armor will fit without too much more adjustment.
