I didn't even know that Trumpeter makes T-72 tracks for purchase.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention

Hi Erick, do you mean the plastic links for the T-72 style tracks that come with the T-62 mod 1972 version?

These are the only Trumpeter T-72 links I know of.

Hi Jon
I think he means these Trumpeter Track links:

http://www.super-hobby.it/trumpeter-06623-soviet-track-links-for-t-72-p-1-1930651.html

Unfortunately Erik I've never used....because unfortunately I haven't bought a Tamiya T72 yet

cheers

Yep, Guys. Those are the tracks!!

BTW Trumpeter is also releasing plastic tracks for the T-55, so they migth be the ones that come with the T-62 kits, ( 1962 ver for T-55 and 1972 ver for T-72)as Jon noticed.

A review would be appreciated!!

Just my two cents

Trumpeter produced an old kit which represented the T-72 with mine roller

http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=TSM324

I've read that this kit is just an (awful) copy of a Tamiya T72M kit...Maybe Trumpeter has used Tamiya kit as dimensional reference for the track....so maybe the tracks are compatible with japanese kit.
Furthermore comparing t55 Tamiya and 1962-T62 Trumpeter, you can see that wheels of chinese kit are almost identical to the japanese ones...maybe could be the same for t 72...

Anyway, that's just mine thought...
Most likely here on the site someone has both the 1972 t62 Trumpeter and T72 Tamiya. He could verify if chinese tracks fit on the japanese kit

Anyway as you've told, a review could be actually very appreciated

cheers

Maybe is too late but finally I've found a review

http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/details/tru/detail_tru_6623.shtml

The writer says that tracks in the box are the same provided for Trumpeter T-62 1972 kit

I hope this can help you

Thanks for this, I thought this might be the case. A reboxing of an existing sprue would make a lot more sense than a new tooling or workable track links.

I have the T-62 1972 mod at home and actually discarded the kit links for Fruil ones.

Interesting to see a review of this box though and it certainly helped to answer some of our questions.

What I would like to know, and it isn't mentioned in the review, is wether or not they included the sprocket. That would be very handy especially if using these on a T-55 or T-62.

I think you are right and that would be a mistake in my book. I would have considered buying a set if they had come with them to use on an up coming project. Looks like I will use the more expensive Friul or MK tracks. Might look into Master Club.

Would it make the set more usable to people if SP Designs offered the T-72 style sprocket?

It would make a lot of sense to have a T-72 "style" drive sprocket for a T-55 with RMSh tracks!

For sure, it does make sense Jacques. In fact, you don't have a lot of choice except buying the Miniarm set of RMSh tracks if you want to get the T-55/62 suitable sprockets. I think there also is a WWII productions reference.

Unfortunately it will be too late for me as I already ordered the Miniarm set for my T-55AM2.

I'm currently working on Hobby Boss's ZTZ-96A and the tracks in that kit are exactly the same tracks that come in the Trumpeter T-62 1962 kit. Which are also the exact same tracks that come in their T-54/55/62, Type-59/69/79/88/96 and Isreali Ti-67 track set. I test fit some of the links and they fit together very well but there is a very slight ejector pin mark on the outside face of every link that will be a major pain in the a_s to clean up. I haven't put paint on one yet to see how noticable it will be but we all know what happens with these kind of things once paint get put on them. I wish they would have put the sprockets that came in the T-62A 1972 kit in with the T-72 track link set as that would have been very helpfull for some one trying to use these tracks for upgraded T-54/55s.

Roy, you must have different T-55 family tank kits than i do...all the Trumpeter T-55 family kits I have contain their very nasty rubber band tracks. Not indy links.

Just to clear this up:

1. Trumpeter T-62 m62 kit has OMSh tracks (older tracks)

2. Trumpeter T-62 m72 kit has RMSh tracks (Newer T-72 type tracks)

3. SP Designs has the correct sprocket for the T-55/T-62 retrofitted with T-72 tracks. Yes, I am hawking wares...

4. SP Designs also has made up the correct front T-55 wheels with the larger axle cover (hub cap).

Best place to see the piece is here at SAAMMODELS

The SP Designs stuff is not available seperately right now, just guaging if I should encourage Sergej to produce a "detail set" to help people out.

I never said anything about Trumpeter's T-55 series of tanks. I said the tracks come in the T-62 1962 kit and Trumpeter's "T-54/55/62, Type-59/69/79/88/96 and Isreali Ti-67 track set" (basically an OMSh track set). I didn't have quotations before so that may have caused the confusion.

Aren't those Trumpeter track ńlinks re-boxed Armour Track Models' track links? If yes, they should fit Tamiya's sprocket, remember: Trumpeter/Mini Hobby offered a motorized copy of the Tamiya kit so I guess both sprockets should be the same. Best regards.

José.
