hey everyone..I wanted to share my first attempt at the elusive white wash technique. The model is the Hobbyboss Dana . I tried to use paint, but ended up trying Tamiya weathering pastels, thinned w/ tap water. I hope I'm headed in the right direction......
Any feedback would be very welcome.. Thanks for looking!
Jeff

I found the thing that helps make the white bits more realisitic is grime, dirt and streaking. If you do that to the model overall and fade/thin the white in sections somehow to make it look patchy then you're onto a winner I reckon.

looks like it got divebombed by a giant pigeon. I'm still honing my skills as well, so I really can't comment. I think there are some threads on how to replicate whitewashes. I'll try to find a couple.

giant pidgeon for sure! The real Dana wore a white camo..not really a white wash per se. I tried to replicate this look...
I still need the dirt, add chipping and streaks, bu tthe basic wash looks close to the picture I have.
Thanks for the replys... maybe I should add the picture..

This is the look I was after...
This is the only photo I could find , so most of it was artistic license.
Thanks
Jeff
