Hi everyone!

I almost finish build my new t-62 and I have a question about the paint scheme and marking signification.

I'm looking on google to find in action pictures and marking description and it's not really easy.

Almost all the picture are in B&W in the case of a T-62 use by URSS and the color pictures are almost all from T-62 use by another country ...

I'm looking for a green version of the t-62 during a URSs with an original marking and not the green version include inside the trumpeter kit.

My first choice was to represent this kinf of color and marking BUT it's a t-62 Mod 1962 and not 62

So do you have some ideas ?

and also do you know where I can find some kind of description of the regimental crest and marking signification ?

thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english

Hi Karl!
First, of all, please specify if your T-62, is mod 62 or mod 72. There are many differences, among those models, begging with, their nationalities and theaters of action.

If your model is mod.62 (like the one in the photo you've posted), then the only choice you have, in order to represent an in-action Red Army Tank, are the cases of the so called "Prague Spring", and the martial law in Poland. The photo you have posted shows one tank in one of the capitals (Prague, or Warsaw), but I'm not sure which one

The main characteristic of the soviet tanks, that participated in these operations, was the white cross schemed stripes that run all over the upper part of the tanks. They were used for identification purposes, in order to distinct them form the tanks of Czechoslovakia and Poland ( who were using the same type of armor).

If you want to depict a tank in these operations, all you have to do, is paint it overall in "Russian Green" (many, many options), and paint the white stripes...

As for the regimental markings and the numbers, try to find a clear picture of a tank, and use the info provided, because behind these 3 digits and the symbols, hide an unique way of identification, that only thw Russians knew how to "translate" them...

Hope to have helped you...

In Prague, Russian Red Army used T-62 mod 1962

In some of these pics, on the engine deck, you can notice an unusual second external fuel tank mounted above the provided reservoir

Hi Roy

First pic was taken in Liberec, not in Prague. To be honest I don't know yet why the tank destroied the building

Other pics

As you can see, the building is the same depicted in the pic that Karl posted at the beginning of this tread

A high res version of that pic
