Nice effort on the figures and the finishing of the diorama.

Thanks Jason, doing the best I can with what I have and can get my hands on. I'm actually using some ideas from your intimate support dio that you did in afv modeller.

Cheers

Good to hear. Did you have a reference for the MILES gear on the Cougar or is it an artistic liberty?

Artistic liberty I don't have any reference for the miles on cougars. Just look at photos I took at NTC and JRTC to get some ideas on possible setup

Since I used some artistic liberty with the mile gears, does anyone know if the 76mm would of used the hoffan device, blank adaptor, or anything at all?

Does anybody know when the C1 FN FAL was removed from service? Would have been still used during the early to mid 90’s in Canada? I’m planning to do a dio with crew and infantry going through training with the possibility being deployed to Bosnia.

The FNC1 was pretty well out of service by 1990 for Regular Force units. They were not used in Bosnia and were by that time replaced by the C7. With the exception of a handful sent to museums, they have all gone into a smelter and may well be part of a Buick by now.

The Simfire device was used on the Cougar. It is a British designed main gun pyrotechnic simulator. It mounted on top of the mantlet. It was not attached to any type of force on force device like the MILES system.

The Hoffman was used on Canadian Leopards in Germany from time to time.

There was no modification needed to fire 76mm blanks from the main gun.

You have covered off the blank firing barrel bearing and plug on the C5 GPMG so you are good to go with that.

Chris, great job on the build and the paint. The scene is great too but I don't think that having one's rifle on a hatch during a ride in the field is a good idea.

Thanks everyone for following and commenting on the build so far.

Olivier your probably right about the rifle, but the whole theme is training. So having the rifle there could be the TC's way of breaking in a noobie gunner.

Here is just a small update, figures finally complete. Should have the rest of the dio and posted tommorrow.

I like those figures! I see a few concessions had to made for Canadian gear, but overall they are really nice - the scrim on the helmet looks spot on.

Thanks Graeme, I did the best I could with what I had on hand. I know some of our gear kinda looks the part, maybe next time I will try some sculpting.

An excellent modelling job, Christopher. I just bought one of these, and I'm just finishing the lower hull. One thing that I noticed about your build is that you turned the front wheels, but did not alter the rudders accordingly. They are directly linked, so if the wheels are turned right, the rudders should also deflect to the right.

Other than that, excellent build! I hope mine looks as good.

One other thing: I don't remember any Cougars having '89xxx' series plates. I only remember '37xxx' and '44xxx' plates on our (SALH B Sqn) Cougars.

As the early kit is an iron sight 'boat', mine is going to be '37475'
