I usually build aircraft models, so this was an interesting break from that. Also, kind of new to the whole armor weathering thing. So, It is pretty much limited to what I know, Artist Oils to bring out the small details. I also tried something new to the kit that I have never tried with any other kit, and instead of pre-shading the details, I just primed the entire thing black, and lightly went over with tamiya desert yellow mixed with some flat white. I liked the effect, so I will carry this over to aircraft kits. It was a pretty simple build, and like the other posts I saw on this kit, no filler was required.

Model Master Armor Sand is a closer match for the Abrams, if you ever build another with desert scheme. I've been wanting to try one of these myself. A very cool kit. Glad you enjoyed it. Maybe we can turn a wing nut into a tread head after all.

well I located an auction at an old hobby store, and picked up this kit and a Bradly IFV, so I will definitely go and pick up some of the model master stuff. I usually only use acrylics, and tamiya is the easiest to clean up out of my airbrush. you wont be disappointed with this kit, as it came with plenty of extra stores. I just wanted to get a general feel down for building an armor kit, so I neglected to put it all on. Once I get a better feel, then it is all out. I will certainly build more armor kits, as they provide more of a chance to weather than aircraft do, but I will always love doing the aircraft! Ug! So many kits!! So little time!!

Just wait till you are enlisted in six campaigns at the same time. Not to mention working on three vignettes for your personal builds.

Well thanks to my recent discovery of a magical bean we know and love as coffee, I have gotten into the amazing habit of waking up earlier than I need to before work just to squeeze in some more man cave time. Random question, have you ever ahd a deformed piece in a model kit? and if so what steps did you take to remedy it?
