AFAIK, it has been promised in the past (ICM, Zvezda?) but like the T-90, it is just vaporware.

Now, if only some company would release a 2s3 in 1/35th scale...

The Chorny Oriol was a development project on a modified T-80 chassis. To the best of my knowledge it has never gone past the development stage. Russia is phasing out most other T-80's too.

I've seen pictures of a presentation model from the Omsk plant, but never a kit in any scale. We could do with some more kits of modern russian armor that is really in use. There was also talk of Trumpeter revising their PT-76B hull recently. That might be interesting for the Marine Corps campaign, provided it is released soon...

I have been trying to get Sergej of SP Designs to produce this conversion, to no avail.

Not all T-80 tanks in the Russian Army are being phased out. T-80UD's certainly are, but they only had a handful of them anyhow. T-80BV's are being scrapped or are (supposedly) in que to be rebuilt to T-80B(M) standards (not holding my breath on this). The T-80U are still in service and are expected to remain so for quite some time. They may also be rebuilt to T-80U(M) standard, but again, I am not holding my breath.

T-90A's are supposed to be the standard tank for the future, but there is disappointment with it not being a better tank and they are being procured at slow speed compared with what the Red Army wants/needs.

As for the 1/35 future...I do not know...
