Is anyone here going to be visiting a T-34 in the near future?
If so I could really use a bit of help with some research. It may involve getting a little dirty and a photograph or two.
If you think you can help please let me know!

Appreciate the link but, nope. They do not have the arcane detail I'm hoping to get help with. It's small and not easily photographed unfortunately.

Hey, Mark! Why don't you tell exactly what you are looking for? I don't have T-34 parked in my driveway, but I might be able to help.

I agree with Alex (...hi Alex... ) ,we may be able to help you..
After all if you write, "t-34" in google bar you can find about 14.700.000 sites and 498.000.000 images....it seems to me a little bit strange that there are no reference about the detail which you are looking for

Joking aside, we'll be very glad to help you, so let us know

Cheers

If you don't get an answer and it can wait until July, I'll probably go to the Parola museum in Finland where there are some T34/85's. Might stop at Bovington on the way over, but I don't recall if there are any T34's there off hand (although I'm sure there must be?)

Hey Mark,

We have a T-34/85 just about 15 minutes away from home (in Vienna). Its a former soviet one which was handed over to the austrian army back in the old days. Itīs in a pretty good condition but itīs not possible to climb in. Itīs parked in a museum which is also near military ground. I have some connections, photos of special areas should be no problem. (For visitors itīs forbidden to climb on the tanks. Let me know what should be photographed and I will try to help you.

Itīs the tank pictured in the link below.

Hey Mark,

The T-34 is my core business. I had almost all T-34 kits of dragon and all T-34 kits of AFV club.

Also i got a lot of books of the T-34. If you say what part you need a picture from, i can make a photo and place it here.

Regards,

Remco

Have you tried Toadman's website? He has three there. T-34/76, 1941, the 1943 model and the T-34/85. Not sure if this are the ones, but it's a start.

Hope this will help.

Just in case you guys are not aware, Mark is a certified T-34 nut (I have certified him myself, I think the paper is here somewhere), so if he is asking for info on something you can rest assured that it is pretty obscure and not well documented if at all. So he is probably looking for something that is on the bottom of the hull such as a small access panel or bolt that isn't seen in any walkarounds or photo logs. Hey Mark, have you asked Scott if he has the info you are looking for?

Mark, I'm a volunteer at the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation, and have access to a T-34, inside and out, let me know what you're looking for and I can probably get some pics. The suggestion to try Toadman's Tanks might be one to follow up on - the Toadman is well known at the MVTF.

Hey Gents,
Thanks for all the replies and offers of help. I really do appreciate it!

Roy is kind of right about this - I've been collecting books about the tank for quite a while.
I started seriously collecting photographs in 2003.
I've been to both coasts of the US taking photos and measurements of tanks at APG and the Littlefield collection.
I've made friends all over the planet who share my interest in the tank and it looks like there's the potential to make a few more.

Jim, Parola has a fantastic collection of T-34s collected during and shortly after WWII. I envy you! Parola is on my short list of places I really, really want to visit.
Bovington has at least one T-34-85, it used to be on outside display but may have been moved inside? Not sure.

Clint, do you know Cary Ericson by any chance? He's the one who arranged for me to get "hands on" with Littlefield's two T-34s a few years ago.

OK, the detail I'm trying to get more information on requires someone to get directly under the final drive housing and take a photograph straight up. Not ultra easy to do since there's not a lot of room there.
So far I've been able to find just two plus a half a dozen or so at various angles and what I want is to get some very clear photos of the detail from as many different versions of the tank as possible.

Andreas, Jim, and Clint, could you please contact me via PM? I very much want to speak with you gents!!

Again, thanks to all of you for your offers of help!

Mark

There is a T34/85 at Bovington and it is on display in the "story of the tank exhibit", it has had a gantry placed over it so you can loook down on it.
