Hi all,
the build is complete. I added some details missing on the Tamiya kit. What bothers me the most is the engine deck that Tamiya have oversimplified.
I added some bits of plastic card to improve it but it still is not 100% accurate. For instance the wading rail is too large but it's too late to make a new one.
Here are the pictures.
I'd like any advise about a correct color for an GW1 Iraqi tank. I use the Tamiya range so I guess the base would be Desert Yellow plus something else.
TIA
Olivier

Well done Olivier, engine deck looks great
Regarding the pale sand color if I were you I'd use tamiya xf 57 buff
I imagine that you'll weather a lot your tank so starting from a light base would be perhaps better than having a darker base color (such as the xf 59)
Otherwise you could use xf 59 faded with a bit of white
My two cents anyway

Hi Olivier
it is a tight squeeze getting the wading rail to sit in between the air filter cover and the radiator torsion bar hinge... only thing i can add about your buyild is that there should be a notch cut out of the engine hatch plate where the fuel pipe inlet vent is located..

Hi Andy. Unfortunately as you probably know, in Tamiya kit there are a little space between the hinge and the hatches. Less than 1 mm. Correcting that flaw it would be rebuild the parte were are the engine hatches. I think that the tight sqeeze although is not perfect, is perhaps the best adjustment in my humble opinion

Thanks for the comment Andy. If I understand well what you mean about the notch cut out, you can see it on this picture.
Maybe it is not deep enough.
Mauro, you're certainly right about Buff being a good starting point. But I didn't intend to depict a battle-worn tank. The Enigma being a command tank, if I'm correct, I think it should have been well maintained.

Hi all,
I finally put some paint on it. The shade is close to the Tamiya Buff. I brushed a filter of Sienna earth over the whole model before applying some Umber earth as pinwash.
The result is a bit too rusty considering my initial intent.
The tracks are not fully weathered yet. The exhaust still needs to be darkened and I'll apply some dust to show an operational tank but not a piece of scrap.

Looks very good Olivier
Probably it would be perfect with a darker pin wash but is just my opinion
Congrats

man Olivier,
that's really nice! I'll second what Mauro said, maybe try 502ABT's 'shadow brown' you could also try to sprinkle on some darker dots with a greyish color via toothbrush to break up the surfaces even more. maybe some dark-yellow oil applications around the shadow areas could look good as well...
other than that I really like the rusty appearance, haven't seen many pics of these but the ones I've seen did look just like your model! thumbs up!
Cheers, Max
