Hi all I decided to start a new thread due to the last being a question.
I want to dedicate this build to my Mother who passed this June 10th with a 4 month battle with cancer, she wolud have been 79 on the 23rd of June. She started me in thie hobby by buying my first kit at age 7, an airplane with glue all over it, and she helped me build it. when we spoke she always asked what I was building. She will be missed.....
After sorting the parts into plastic divider bins and reading the plans I am ready to start:
Here are the major parts:
a nice well ade set of instructions
6 boxes of sorted boxes
missile bay and 1/2 of the missile
well detailed cab
roof parts
and
a lot of PE
The firststeps are the missle bay and the cab.
More later

Nice pics Jim.
And sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 3 1/2 years ago and I miss her interest in my hobby too. She was a big supporter of my modeling. She was only 53 when she passed though...1 year fight with Ovarian cancer. Anyone ever wants a cause to donate too, Ovarian cancer research, or the Ronald McDonald house, are two very good ones.
Back on topic, just how big, in real measurements, is the missile? Looks big enough to drill the bottom out and put a Estes rocket in for a real launch! Just like the SA-4 missiles!

Thanks Jacques, I agree on the donations, but I may add any non profit that is doing reserch to stop this terriable illness.
The missile is just over 8 inches with a diameter of 1 inch, smaller than a scud.
I have the launch rail in and had to make pins to hold the upper ram in place and will trim when glue is dry. for what I can see I will be able to show the kit with the missile up or down so far all is moveable
I am still looking for pictures of the missle just before launch to see if there were any cable bus hooked to it, I got a good walk around yesterday but the missile was displayed on its side.
more later

It was ment as a warnyng to other modelers, get in a hurry and don't pay attention, cost me a day of modeling to while it heals. I am going to buy a first aid kit to keep in the drawer so I don't have to bleed all over the house finding bandaids where my wife hides them , This isn't the first time and I am suure others have had my misfortion, one time I had a exacto knife roll off the table with a scaple blade on it and it stuck in my leg, duh will be back on it tomorrow gave me time to read the plans and look at parts'

I hear you Jim. I was modeling while I was waiting to hear how one of my mothers surgeries went, was tense, and should not have been modeling. I ended up slicing a x-acto deep into my ring finger with resultant nerve damage. I super-glued it together though...worked like a charm!
Looking at the pictures, do the body/cab/top fit well, or are there warpage issues? I cannot tell...

Well I have a first aid kit in the top drawer, so back to work: Jacques ther has been no warpage of parts I just laid the parts on to for reference. started the axel assemblies, again another small kit, but I was short 4 2mm x 30mm axles. luckley I had some Evergreen 2 mm rod to finish the assembley. with the healing cut I am not working that fast, funny how one hurt finger will affect how you do . Pictures tomorrow

I am wating on a denist turbine and drill handel and bore bits, so I will have a small right angle drill with water to keep the dust down while drilling. I am also running into a problem makeing the connecting rods for the stering wheels:
here is one of the pictures I got earlier:
here are the air lines and tanks:
more later
Jim
Thought I add pics of small drill, I asked my denest if he had an old one and he gave me this drill and a rebuild kit for it and I bought another one for .01 cents on ebay and $78 dollars for the turbine and .01 cents for 5 bits. got to love ebay some times

Well, if you Californians would stop eating the paint maybe they would let you play with the big-boy formulas!
(I do not care if they reformulate the paint so long as it WORKS. They can make it out of lettuce and carrots for all I care so long as it WORKS.)
back on topic, nice work so far. Do you think it is worth the $285 at this point? Still planning on getting it, just at a later date since I order my 2S3's from our friend Pawel.

I put the paint in my cerial, I had to drive to San Diago just to get my glue, Weldon #3 But to answer your question , yes this kit is wort the cost. I also sent money to Pavel. The only thing is detailing the stearing and adding brake lines, but I think I figured it out

Well, there's your problem! I put the paint in my cerial
Glad to hear you think it is worth it. It will stay high on my list then.
I am waiting to see how the missile goes together. It looked good in pieces, but sometimes it gets a bit tricky getting those "tubes" of missiles to line up properly.

The good people at miniman factory were going to send me one, but I anm waiting on the cost of shipping. I had all toghter and painted, I was going to hit it with black wash and I had cleanedmy airbrush and hit it full force so needless to say I need to re paint. let it dry tonight and repaint it tomorrow
and I misse a couple of spots with the green paint. and the rocket is pinned into the launch rails so I have to be carefull moveing it
also here is on shot of rocket laying at rest
Oh well will fix my mistake and move forward, also dry fitted the body and everythin aligned real well
