Here is my latest project in process - the very nice 1/48 Gasoline SU-85 conversion for the Hobby Boss T-34. I also used Tamiya tracks as I didn't like the HB links and the Tamiya tracks had a better sag to my eye.
I have mostly good things to say about the Gasoline kit. I do feel it could use better instructions and decals, but the resin is quite nice to work with.
The build is complete, minus a set of spare tracks for the front plate, and the tow cable to be added. Paintwork will begin hopefully this week.
This model will be my entry for the Missing Lynx 1/48 group Tank Destroyer Group build. Any comments are welcome. So without further adieu, here are the pics...
Hope you like them.

Looking good Scott. I haven't had a chance to put my hands on a Gaso conversion yet so it's good to hear your feedback on it. It looks to me like the fenders are cast as part of the upper hull? However they are cast, they don't seem to be set up well for adding "damage" to them. Aside from that they have a nice scale effect with the thinness. What color profile are you going for when you paint it?

Jeremy,
Thanks! Yes - the fenders are cast as part of the upper hull. It would be difficult to bend them as they are resin, and the casting is nice, but a bit brittle. Perhaps with some concentrated heat and some good experience working with resin?
I would love to see an SU-85M or SU-100 in this scale. The Tamiya SU-122 is nice, but the later guns are really cool.
I plan on doing a regular old green SPG, maybe a Polish unit. I purchased a Gasoline Decal set for the 1/48 T-34 and SU series vehicles, and there are 4 or 5 SU-85 vehicles in there. The difficulty so far has been research - one vehicle Gasoline describes as an SU-100 is the kit Dragon uses as its' SU-85M cover vehicles in both 1/35 and 1/72 scale, and I cannot tell who is right.
Take care!
Scott

That's a tough spot to be in. I'm sure that if we were in Russia we wouldn't have a problem with stuff like that. Perhaps Frenchy could help figure this out?

Just got this conversion kit today from a guy down in New Mexico. Really looking forward to adding it to my Russian tank collection.

Always loved the SU-85, and yours really looks good! The level of detail at this scale is amazing. Aside from the spare tracks & tow cable, are you gonna add glass to the headlight? Looking forward to see your completed build.
