Hi all

Eventually I couldn't wait for the annonced Trumpeter T-64 kit, so two days ago at my local hobby shop, I bought the Skif kit. This one:

It was very cheap, a bargain indeed. I know that is far to be a perfect model, but I'd like to improve it without any extra sets. Yes, probably i'm a bit insane, but I would like to improve my scratchbuild skill facing this long term "challenge"

Would anyone of you tell me waht's the tweak list for this tank?

I know, for example that the turret doesn't have a correct shape, but in detail what are its flaws?

I've already read here on the site the topic about the T-64 tips
( https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/167912&page=1 ), but i'd like to have more information.

Any help, link or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

I swap the headlights, all the station marker lights, both turret hatches and any other detail parts that i can get from DML T72 kits, replace un-ditching beam with wood dowel, use tissue soaked in diluted woodglue for the mantlet cover and snorkel ends, and add details from scrap plastic card and rod and any spare PE parts.
I remove the moulded lies on the fuel tanks and tool bins and replace with rod. Replace and detail the `dozer` blade on the front of the hull .
Remove and change the position of the plough mounts on the lower front hull.
Add the springs for the moveable front trackguards.
Add cable for the turret spot light and smoke bomb throwers if used.
Change the turret mg if i can.
Add detail to the main sight box in front of the commanders cupola.

Or you could buy an expensive update set.

I have not done it yet but the tracks really do need replacing.
I hope this helps.
And you could always build it out of the box.

I think the "tweak" list for anything with Skif written on it is -

1. Pick up model box
2. Walk over to your bin
3. Place model box in bin

Does this mean you are doing a Build log Spider ?

@ Malcom. Thanks a lot! I'll follow your advise. Actually I have in my stash a DML t-72 which is too wrong to obtain something good. I think I'll use to keep spare parts. Regarding the tracks, I've noticed that are quite awful. I'm still trying to invent a method to scratch the track links, but I'haven't

@ Taras, thanks again for the incredibly useful links. I'm posting them here to share with other guys

@Jordan either way I think. When I start i'll be very glad to share with you my progress

@ Matt , well c'mon guy, don't be so pessimist. There are not only Tamiya , Trumpeter and Dragon kits. regarding the build log i don't know yet. Actually It would be nice but I've been doing my Russian Willys (here my some pics)

...and I'll have to finish my JNA t-55.

...furthermore, as usual, I have to gather A LOT of references before start. But anyway, I don't know. The challenge is really intriguing so perhaps I'll change my mind

Thanks again to all of you

There is always the SP Designs line of aftermarket I help to provide to the public (Really...I get no money out of it).

I also highly recommend the Master Club T-64 tracks, they were fabulous to work with.
