Anyone else love Russian stuff because half the time it looks like a mad-max vehicle?
I also love banging up models and adding weld lines... and if there is one thing Russian stuff has a lot of its weld lines and damage.

Well I'm not that familiar with "Mad-Max" but I must agree with the coolness factor, there is something about a T-34 ripping thru the snow with a squad of infantry hanging off the back ! and the brute power of monsters like the JSU-152,and there certainly is a lot lot you can do with a banged up Berlin attacker with ID stripes and bedsprings. Not to mention the low slung, long gun T-72

I love how you can paint it almost any kind of green and it will still be accurate. Or that you can make a tank from half the worlds armies from a single T-55 or T-72 kit. Or that you can swap the 200 litre fuel drum for a commercial 200 litre drum.
In short: I love Russian armor because of the endless possibilities.

You should take a look at these two builds by Kamil Feliks Sztarbala (KamilS):

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/175948&page=1
And this one of a build by Juan Carlos (posted by hostias):
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/177395&page=1
Its very true about Russian stuff- there are so many possibilities over such a broad range of vehicles.

I like how lots of the russian stuff has "rancher engineering"
like one of my fav. current builds:
http://armorama.com/forums/177303&page=1
with the bolted on Armour, etc. Its like anything goes half the time.

Rather than Mad Max influences, I've always thought that the Kremlin must have let Gerry Anderson be the lead designer on most of their modern equipment...

the russians got the essense of warfaretoys
make it robust, and make it to work with a farmerboy, and from 60plus to 60 below!
add some "test in real conflicts", and you get really cool stuff

Zack Sex is the true master of these items (IMHO) - he builds russin engineering items that are truly remarkable! I wish he would make masters for someone like miniman factory!
Same goes for Roy Charnock - his work is awesome - he is making an S-300 Grumble in 1/35 at the moment - truly awesome.
I take my hats off to people with this talent!!

Ahh the joy of Soviet Armor... What I like most about it is that a lot of these vehicles have character and very creative design, giving them a more agressive look that I find more attractive than the `clean line` designs of western nations. Of course, all the foreign countries with rather dubious credentials add to the `Evil` aura carried over from the cold war, when people still feared that the Fulda gap would be run through by a green torrent of menacing soviet tanks...that turned out to be more inferior in some respects than was assumed at the time.
Soviet armor is the steel embodiment of the fear of generations...
