I know they have to watermark their product to stop people simply printing them off themselves but I can't really see the examples through the watermarks

I agree. This is ridiculous.

The posters look very nice, but again, the watermarks are so obtrusive, who can really tell?

Clive (the owner of Black Bart) mailed me with this:

Hi Jim,
I see a few people are unhappy with the latest watermark on the pics.
This is solely because I'm tired of people just copying the stuff - I don't charge a lot & it annoys me to get ripped off.
If they go to the auctions & click on any of the pics in the body of description the enlargement makes the artwork clear to all.
Thanks again,
Clive

What I like about Black Bart is that they are VERY interested in customer input, and responsive to feedback. They'll regularly solicit opinions on at least one other well-known AFV-related website, and seem genuinely interested in what modelers want, and make changes reflecting comments they receive.

Thanks for the link to Black Barts shop Jim.
I was a bit put off by the watermarks but after checking their shop I have bookmarked them for future purchases.
Cheers, John

Honestly, guys, I'll be blunt (and I will send this to the seller via Ebay)
I ordered 1 of their posters, French Posters, actually, for my Carentan dio because it had some of the exact posters I was looking for. But I am very disappointed in the quality and the scale of these "posters".
First, the posters are printed on very, very thin paper. There would be no way to glue them down as is without doing some modification to them first.
Second, the scale seems a bit off. The larger posters should take up the correct space on a building...on the Ebay site, it does say to order larger posters for...well, larger poster sizes, but...if researched correctly, the seller would know what sizes these posters would be.
Finally, and lastly, the images are grainy, like these were scanned and then printed off an inkjet printer.
Not bad for the 2 dollars or whatever I paid for it (the shipping from the UK was more than the product) but I feel like I could have done a better job at home with my Cannon printer.
So, I sincerely hope the seller takes this feedback as constructive and not as a bashing. This is the only time I have ever dealt with this company.
Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I hope they wouldn't send them out if they are no good. The hassle of returning it would be more than it's worth, I think.
Just my two cents.

Hi,
I'm sorry you were disappointed.
Firstly, I stress that these are on thinner paper on the auction - this was to avoid the problem I found with trying to paste posters to buildings. Personally, I have had no problem in using them at this thickness.
As to sizes, I had mistakenly assumed it would be obvious I'm referring to commercial posters but I have amend the auction to make it clearer
I mention larger sizes on the auction as poster designs do come in various sizes. Maybe not in USA but it is possible in Europe at that time to find the same commercial poster in various sizes - the cigarette posters in particular -, the same poster could appear in a magazine - on a wall & occupying a billboard sized end of building. I concentrated on the standard wall sized posters.
As the posters are based on actual posters issued at the time the "scanned" comment is valid. It would be impossible to produce "actual" posters without some scanning.
At 1/35th scale much of the detail is compressed causing a loss of clarity and this is possibly heightened by the thin paper but they are laser printed.
Sorry you were unhappy with the quality.
