What's the difference, other than the cupola with the DShK?

Here's the other one.. the cupola with the Dushka seem to be the most apparent differences... I'm surprised they released it so soon after the first one.

I'm more suprised that they separated it into two different kits just because of the different cupola (although a different top plate may be needed for the two versions). This might be a bad move. I remember their T-62 mod. 62 being left on the shelves in my country because everybody was looking for the later mod. 72 instead. [Edit: I know this is kind of an exaggeration]
I just hope they don't end up like Dragon with their "a Tiger for every month of the War" policy.

Yes,only one kit with optional parts it would be more than enough.
Doing many kits for T-62 versions was a right choice in my opinion (actually t-62 versions have lots of differences) but for asu-85 that's no justifiable
Anyway, I've been collecting references since I bought the kit

I saw one of these built in the Russian Armour campaign and have to say something about it really catches your eye. Regarding releasing two versions with the minimal differances seems strange but may improve sales, then again the second release could also be correcting some of the faults of the first release if the were any.

Jacques,
You're not *really* surprised about that, right? Disappointed, as am I, sure, but we know how it works...

Ah, you know me too well Olaf...
Still, I was hoping for a mantlet with cover for this version.
