Gents,
Sorry to start a new thread, but this one is not for the building of the Trumpeter kit, but I am asking for info towards markings. I am working through build and am looking at the decals from the kit, which looks rather spartan/lacking. Is there an aftermarket sheet which includes stencils and actual markings for a Canadian vehicle?
TIA
Brad

Aside from the maple leaves on the fuel tanks and one on the front bumper, there's not too many markings visible after the add-on armour is applied. Some LAVs had the NATO chevron in either black or IR tape on the sides of them in Afghanistan.
Domestic training, the LAVs usually display their callsigns, but these are zap-strapped on placards to the bustle bins.

Thanks Trevor. Appreciate the reply. Hey, did you have a LAV III at the Vancouver show over the long week-end?

Hey Brad, you can get CFR plates from Real Model, but IIRC trump includes them as a decal anyways. Besides, lots of LAV in Afg have the 'plates flipped over backwards.

No, I've been meaning to bring a model to that show one of these days, but I got stuck up-island. C'est dommage, next year!

Trumpy does include the CFR plates, but they are not decals. look on the colour painting guide and there should be CFR plates to cut out and put on the vehicle.

Most deployed LAV-3's were devoid of most markings. Most had the CFR plate turned over, gun taped over,or taken off all together. All had the inverted arrow on the sides, depending on time frame mid 2007 and up would have the red stop or I will shoot sign added.

Brad
I had one in the Vancouver show. Someone else had one in too and it was a Trump kit. I built the Realmodel conversion from the AFV Club kit. The only markings are the CFR plates and the three small black maple leafs on the front bumper and on the two fuel tanks in the back. Here's a pic of mine frm the Vancouver show:

Thanks very much amd you're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the show.
Here's a couple of general internet picsthat show the markings. This is pretty much the extent of it and you'l notice that the second pic has the CFR plate turned around and you can just make out the small black maple leaf through the mud and dust on each of the fuel tanks lower down. Notice that there isn't a black chevron on the side of the hull. Some vehicles had them, some did not.
cheers

Top photo is from the Kabul area circa 2003/2004. Bottom shot is a replacement LAV-3 picked up after the other was hit by an IED. By rules ISAF rules all are to have the inverted arrow (thermal tape) displayed post 2003 on the sides of vehicles for identification of friend or foe.

Couple more questions:
Bob, what glue did you use to build your ration boxes, was it just plain white glue? Also, where did you get the figures?
Anthony, where on the upper body of the LAV-III does the upside down V go?
Thanks Guys

Hi Brad
Yep, plain white glue did the trick. The figures are from Realmodel.
