I'm thinking this will be a survivor of the Battle of Stalingrad that was retrofitted with the L/40 for service with the LAH. This would be concievable, yes?

It is concievable, let say, time wise. Since stalingrad was the mother of all siege (900 days) and the german where great to adapt on the field I would say it is more than probable. Now, seeing is believing.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of modified and funnys so go for it!

Looking forward to more.

Thanks for the kind words Phil.

My grandfather shot the guns above his oerlekon off doing this in the PTO. Then, doing the same on a larger gun, he put a round through the captain's cabin. Of course, he never made it past ensign for either of his tours.

Finished masking and painting the roadwheels, today.

I used a circle cutter from a local crafts store, 1mm frisket(to give the tip of the cutter something to hold on), and 3M blue painter's tape for the masks.

Right click and choose something like "view image" "reload image"... depends on your browser. It didn't originally show up for me either.

Matt, what happened with the hull painting? Looks like you got some definite runs and over spray.

No runs. Some overspray due to the fact that I used two different colors for the base. This will all be covered by the whitewash, so I'm not sweating it.

Opened up my box of sub-assemblies and realized I painted the inner roadwheels rather than the outer. I will fix them tomorrow.

Hi

Nice work so far. I don't suppose this kit has the option of the 30mm bolt on armour? Does anyone know of any AM that offers it?

Here are a couple of the riders. I paint the heads separately. Still some weathering to do.

Found an easy method to make resin and plastic look like real metal.

Did this with Rustoleum Gold. Brass is available, but you have to place a special order to get it. At least, I could not find it in a major city.
I plan on smoothing out the paint with some light sanding and adding a coat of clear-orange, then Future or clear-gloss to shine.

Not to my knowledge. But I have spent near $80 in pe and can't muster the strength to work with any more. Each time is just another chance to up.

I know how you feel - I'm currently working on a ship and the the PE sticks to everything but where it should. Aargh!

Camo look the part Matt. So many images are missing from this thread ... such a pity .... read through it again today, and all the later interior images are gone.
You should maybe try some different shades of field grey and greys for the tank riders. Having the same green for uniform and over coats is not so appealing.

Here's a link to the gallery.

Only the soldiers and ammo are not posted.
I may try MM feldgrau for the overcoats. They need touch-up anyway.
Here is some progress on the other two riders. They are Dragon's 1/35 Winter Tank Riders.

I still have a lot to do with them.

Here are some figures I scavenged from an old Tamiya kit. They aren't year-specific, but lack detail to define them.
Early stages:

I will be starting on the interior, soon.

Have most of the stowage done.

I am not sure whether I will leave the cleaning rod as part of this set or hung from the side of the panzer.

I'll white wash the tracks, when I start the wash on the tank.

Not done is the rack for the jerry cans. I have it primered, but will have to finish it tomorrow. I should also be recieving the interior, tomorrow. I'll post more progress as I go along.

I'm having trouble assembling the engine. It is Verlinden's Pz. IV interior and the directions are horrible. On one side it lists the parts and their corresponding numbers as well as which diagram to refer to. On the back of the slip of paper are the diagrams. These look like tenth gen. copies. I have managed to decifer which parts to use, but can not tell their locations. I have found only one usable photo of the Maybach 120 and it is either from the wrong angle or has the belts removed. Can anyone direct me to a line drawing or decent photo of the engine?
