Well here we go,this is the Italeri kit, less the snorkels, which will be saved for the DML sherman...done OOB with tamiya rubber tracks, and will be done with decals from the bitz box.Model is painted in MM acryl green drab, with some drybrushing done with MM acryl dark green, and some silver drybrushing,to simulate worn paint.Any comments and constructive welcome!

Looks pretty good. I don't blame you for putting the Tamiya tracks on it. Italeri rubber tracks are the worst ever! It looks very good how you toned down the green drab, with the dark green. My only criticism is that it looks like your right hand tracks are on backwards.

how does the mm acryl paint go on .
cause iam going to start to use the acryl mm when i get my new airbrush.
but u should have dry brushed some rust on the tacks and did a wash on the tracks while they where off the tank.

Dave:

It's kind of hard to tell for sure because of the camera angle and lighting in the photos, but it looks like you may have painted the rims of the idler wheels black, like they have rubber on them (like the road wheels). On the VVSS idler, the part of the idler wheels that contacts the tracks is steel -- not rubber.

Might just be the photos and my eyes playing tricks.

My big question is how are you going to match the paint and finish of the mantle and gun when you add it? It's really tough to do, even if you use the same paints. Hope you don't have to repaint the whole thing ...

Be careful of using silver for worn paint. Exposed metal oxidizes very fast.

Hey Iron Fist, your wrong Dave put the tracks on right on the right side, unless you ment to say the left side or from the tanks perspective.

AW
AW
AW,
If you have a small drill (.016 or so) drill holes at the lowest point of the round bullet deflector guards on the fuel filler cover area, and the long bullet deflector around the turret. Then you can dribble a streak of faint rust down from these holes.

OK?
OK?

Good tip, Carl. I missed those drain holes on MANY of my early Sherm models! (No, I'm not going back to fix them ... OK, I might.)

BTW, I have a Jordi Rubio barrel on the way to Dave, so maybe we'll see this finished soon!
