Still need to fill up the bed with a whole bunch of junk and 2 more figures, need to hit the kit with an over all dullcoate after finishing the decaling as well. Curious about your thoughts on the wheels......

looks like you did a nice clean build there mate. I like the figures too. I also note that you have still to attach the bumper code decals. The wheels look OK, once they and the truck are weathered.
Good one mate. Now that you have done one do the Italeri Closed cab one as well or another Tamiya one with all the Roo Resin bits due out shortly. #:-)

Nate:
Is there anything you can't do????
A great effort here. Your fig work is as usual top shelf. The fig close ups show the excellent work on facial shading, lips, the helmet netting, ----very good and so hard to achieve (for some of us anyway
The GMC looks good. The subtle stain on the gas tanks, wheels/tires look fine-----perhaps a bit of dust to dull down the decals and you're there.
Very nice----gonna put this one on any sort of a base?
Great work again!
Steve

Nate, looks great.
I like that guy riding on the side, he reminds me of the garbage men.
Keep us posted with more pics!

Excelent piece of work. Some things that really stand out: gas stain on the fuel tank, superb face with slightly "pinked" lips, eye catching position for the side board rider, nice subtle weathering, good use of several shades of OD (Truck, gerry cans and ammo cans are ll slightly different).
The only thing that might be improved is the rider's map case. If that's held by a shoulder strap, as it appears to be, it should hang a little more perpenducular to the ground and should be more toward the riders's left butt cheek and given the position maybe even slightly awy from the body to give more feel of action. Is it possible to position the wheels turned to the right? That would also emphasize the fell for motion and give more credence to the rider's position, as if he was fighting centrifugal force to hold onto the truck.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I never really know what I think of a kit when I'm almost done with it. But after you're done and don't look at it for a while all the small bothers seem to disappear.
I haven't weathered a lot of wheels and that's a combo of pastels and dry brushing. From looking at contruction equipment it looks pretty close.
Roo: Gald it passed your inspection, I was nervous when i saw you responded!!! Keep me posted on the hard top conversion, I will take one and the dump truck bed too if you have that. Next up for the GMC will be a Sea Bee airfield repair vehicle.
I know Cliff agrees with this, the CCKW kit may be one of Tamiya's best kits ever produced. It's a real winner.
Andy: The driver and co-driver are by Nemrod and the guy on the side is from Warrirors. All are made for this truck. I will be adding 2 to 4 US Gis in the back from verlinden's Tank Rider Sets (1 and 2).
WWH: Yes, I apparently can't clean up after myself or clean the bathroom (just ask the wife). I plan on mounting this over a mirror on a plain wood base. I'm happy with the undercarriage and want to show it off. Besides, ground work is not my forte, BUT i will try a dio for the D-Day Campaign that is looming sometime in 2004....
AJ: You are correct, I never even noticed that. The map case is molded to the figure and I never gave a thought to how it should hang. At this point I'm willing to make that concession, but your observation is right on the mark....

Just a constructive thought,
The front on shot of the headlights shows them a little "dull".Are you going to put a knapsack over them for light security?I have this trouble w/dullcote on any clear parts. My cure is to put them on last AFTER the weathering, then hand dirty them last.
And I agree it is a good job.If you had gone a little aftermarket, look for A/M jerrycan holders and straps. On the Mark has them, they really greate a 3-D effect instead of having to use a wash,AND,you can leave the holder empty, with the straps flopping around...

Nate. Great job. I have this kit in the "Stack o' kits" and I guess I will have to bust it out. One thought: in the right rear shot, it looks like the outside tires were drybrushed far more than the inside set? It may be a trick of the light but it looks like the contrast is pretty stark.
Again, good job!
Shaun.

Karl:
I haven't really though about the front lights (i had sorta forgot about them for the time being), I was sorta planning of throwing knapsacks over both lights. In either case they will ger a wash of buff or sand to dirty them up a little. Thanks
Shaun:
I caught the difference in the photos too, that's all pastels. that's on my list of fixes for tonight!!!

Thanks! Yep all the OD is air brushed as is the dried mud in the wheel wells, rust , stains etc are all washes that are drybrushed on. So is the wud/dirt on the wheels which is a combination of paint and pastel pain.
I stand corrected some of the OD parts (the 50 cal ring, for example) were ahnd painted just to give some contrast in colors.

Nate:
I'm just going to have to echo what everyone else has said. This is one fine build. Great figures as well. As I've said in the past, there doesn't seem to be anything you can't tackle. Hopefully I'll have some armor pics to share with you soon as well.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
