This is it :-) I didn't like my old pattern so I stripped the model and tried this scheme. I am very pleased with the results. It is my first paint job with my new Iwata Eclipse. The airbrush worked beautifully I did all the weathering with my airbrush and pastels. Let me know what you think!
This is my 5th armor model I have made :-) So I'm still doing a lot of experimenting with different techniques n' such. I painted it a base coat of Tamiya "German Grey" and used Tamiya "Dark Yellow" for the second coat. I lightly airbrushed Tamiya "Buff" over the whole model to tone it down some and added black streaks on the front and sides of it with pastels. Comments are welcome

I am very pleased with the results.
I would be also Machu.
I think this looks great, and more so since it represents only your fifth armor vehicle.
The preshading worked, the suspension looks good, and the crew compartment is well done. I'm not a German expert but I was wondering if the breech/shell tray area on the main weapon might show some steel from wear???? I'm not sure.
Very nice sir!

Yep. Nice finish. I wish I could have done models that well when I was your age. God help us all when you're experienced. As always though, the way to improve is to learn. Please bear that in mind when reading the following!! Basket much too clean looking compared to the rest though. And an antennae in that base might be good? Also the barrel slide wouldn't show paint? Is that barrel clamp in the right position? There should be a small stay underneath it to keep it clear of the MG. It seems that it would foul any traverse of the MG? The tracks also seem to be the same colour as the hull, and I think there is a little silvering on the shield decal, it's a pain but decals go down sooooo much better if you gloss coat the area where they're going. Or a little Johnsons clear. Then matt 'em down later.
And please remember, I am not trying to criticize, just help improve!

Hey 'Chu,
this is one sweet looking Marder. I did this kit as the second kit whilst back to modeling, and mine sucked. Real good preshading, you got there.

Wonderful piece of work....5th tank, that speaks wonders for your abilities, only niggle I have is the rear basket, I would give it a pretty heavy amount of weathering, even a touch of rust would be welcome, apart from that, relly ecxellent. To conclude, I am not exactly the world's no.1 German armor fan, but with this I could certainly make an exception! Jim

In follow up to TEACHER's comments. The silvering really detracts form an otherwise excellent finish. The extra step to gloss and seal teh decals really makes a world of difference. You've got some great painting skills to work from.
As to his comment on the travel lock. It looks like you attached the mount in reverse on the upper hull. I looked up Tamiya's box art and you have the lock in the right postion, but it looks like there's a lip on the mount that should be towards the front of the vehicle which would hold the lock from the traverse of the mg. Depending on the glue you used, you might be able to dislodge this an replace it without any repainting needed.
The yellow over gray is particularly good in that many of the early vehicles to arrive in North Africa were used in Europe and had been factory painted dunkelgrau.
For the future, check the edges of items for tiny amounts of flash or mold parting seams. It looks like your aiming sticks have a small lip along the edge.
If you ever choose to enter a contest, these are the things the judges will note and will hurt your chances at success.
AS with TEACHER , I foffer this to help you refine your already excellent skills.

Got to chime in a great job !!
really like the shading when I do mine it seems that I cover all the shading paint with the top coat
Oh well I guess I will get the hang of it soon
but back to yours great job again
Question how do you like this airbrush I am looking for new one that paints real small lines without all the splatter that most do. (++) (++)
