Anyone have any pictures or link to pictures of a captured T-34 that was used by the Italian Army? I have found two very grainy shots. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mauro,
Interesting links. The last link, first and second photos state "Southern Russia, Summer 1942."
My question are: Were these being delivered to the Italian Army by the Germans? And did they service in Italy against the U.S.? Or did they stay in Russia?
See ya in the funnies...............

Some really cool looking photos there I'm not a big fan of the T-34 but I may just have to get 1 and do it up with a big flag flying off the turret

Hi Brian
According to the book "Storia dei mezzi corazzati", the captured T-34s were two . One of them was taken by the Germans at the beginning of the Operation Barbarossa and was delivered to the Italians. Italians sent it to Rome to make some evaluations and trials. In the first link you can see the exemplar sent to Rome In the other pics you can see another exemplar captured by Italian of 62th Group , 120th artillery regiment in Southern Russia in 1942. This exemplar was a T-34/76-1941/42 model produced by STZ factory.
As far as I know the exemplar sent to Italy wasn't employed against the US army
Cheers

Dave what kit are you using, I really am liking the way this looks, can anyone recommend a 1/35 kit that would be the most useful for this project

Some time ago Cyberhobby made a STZ T-34 kit which wasn't perfect
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/cyberhobby/chc6388.html
http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/dml/kit_dml_6388.shtml
I really don't know if this kit is still available. It was a limited edition kit
Otherwise you can use as a base a T-34/76-1942 plant 112 kit and then modify the turret and the hull
Or you can buy the extra resin sets made by Tank
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/tank.html
You can start from the DML kit or the AFV one.
DML kit is said to be the best one, but AFV kit is provided with full interior details and it's sold at a very reasonable price
cheers
