Great start so far Dave. Me too i have that kit in my stash....Do you need references ?
Are you going to do a Russian exemplar?
Trumpeter kit doesn't have the tarp on the gun mantlet, but actually all the Russian exemplars had the tarp
Another inacurracy is about the track links. The teeth should be drilled because Russian exemplars carried the lighter type of them. ASU-85 had track links which were almost equal to the PT-76 ones, but they were drilled because the ASU-85 was conceived to be airborne, so it must have to be lighter
cheers

I'll be watching this build as well!
I would like to add one of these to build soon so hopefully what I see here will push me over the edge!

Not to be a wet cloud, but the Spade Ace ASU tracks seem to actually be PT-76 tracks (No lightening hole I can see in the pictures anyhow). Let us know if they DO have the lightening holes.
There is one (!) photo of a ASU-85 m56 in use without the mantlet cover. Exactly 1 I could find. SO it is not ENTIRELY necessary but extreemly rare.
The base kit is a great build and a lot of fun. I have yet to finish mine, but my review on here should help you, I hope! https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/7079

I'll be doing this kit for an upcoming campaign, so I'll be watching this one with interest.

Nice progress Dave, has the build been fairly easy? Any problems so far?
Pity the tracks aren't the hollow guide versions but they do look nice nonetheless.

So does The Bodi, I prefer the look of that last one, but it's a matter of taste...

Nice look build Dave. One of the uglier tanks in my opinion, but I'm sure it'll look scary.

I was going to say the grille has a gap at the bottom, but it appears to be the same on the real one. That PE part is not very realistic though...

I am not sure if that screen in the picture is original or not. Assuming that it is correct, the PE is not THAT far off considering scale. I would hate to have to make a accurate one...

This is a much better looking kit than I had envisioned! Everything is looking great AND with metal tracks too!
Hey, thanks for taking the time showing it off!

Well I think it would be hard do it better. I don't know if there are finer metal meshes on sale, but even if they were available, it would be hard indeed and incredibly time consuming make that detail in a decent way. It might be better to use a plastic mesh
