New Miniarm T-55 details

Miniarm it appears have just produced a detail set for the Tamiya T-55, among the many useful parts is the much desired engine deck wading rail! Overall a pretty awesome looking set, I hope Igor doesn't mind me sticking these photos up here (originally posted on panzer35.ru):

thats strange they add the pluming for the drivers wash but not for the fuel tanks ????

I second that ! Even Accurate Armour did at least the connexions on their Enigma conversion.
But the good news is the wading rail. I hope they will sell it in a mini set adn not only in the comprehensive one shown in the pics.

It looks incredibly useful, me too I've noticed the wading rail and driver wires.
Anyway, lack of fuel lines aside, since they've made a new gun mantlet, they could correct a Tamiya kit flaw. In Tamiya kit the gun looks to low than usually it appears on the real tank when it is parked or during its transfers
I hope this set won't be too expensive

I guess with the plumbing they figured the MIG set is cheap enough so most will use that, or some lead wire.

At last resin bits for making a perfect Peruvian T-55, replacing the DSh-K mount with another set from the same brand of course and opening the hole for the glacis machine gun. Some Syrian and Iraqi T-55 also have that loader's cupola, that's just perfect if modelling an specific vehicle. Well done Miniarm!. Best regards.

Or the Legend set, which also has fuel tanks but you could use the extra ones on another project.

The wading rail seem a bit strange. Wonder were Tamiya part D18 are on the Miniarm photos?

Well spotted!!.. i have scratchbuilt a few fordimg cover mounts and you need to thin, file kit parts to allow fitment. looks like Miniarm made it too small... should fit just behind air cleaner hatch, as per your pic. Very difficult to make it fit between torsion bar and air cleaner hatch.

How's the T-builds going these days?
What are your opinion regarding D41? I get the feeling that it should be moved a mm back under the turret. Adding a strip of PC between it and D18 of course.
Or cutting D41 in two and moving just the air cleaner hatch a little bit back ward? Have you figured out what measurement that's off?

nice to hear from you, well something that myself and Tim Roberts agreed on a few years ago was that the area aft of the oil cooler hatch and the fan cover was too shallow, in effect the whole engine deck from the radiator covers needed moving back slightly, but as you suggest moving the engine hatch cover towards the turret a mm or 2 would allow enough room. Miniarm need to rethink this etch part in my opinion.

No it's possible to make a "real" soviet T-55.
Tamiya gives more an czech version of T-55,without russian hatches and some other little parts..

Does this set contain rear tow hooks ?
I can see in the pictures it has re-worked fron ones, but cant see the backplate, anything for the backplate ?
