I'm building the HobbyBoss GMC 40MM Bofors French AA truck to provide cover for a Bronco Bailey Bridge on my WWII diorama. I would perfer and will buy an American Quad fifty unit on a truck or trailer soon. This unit was a conversion the French came up with, combining a trailer unit and the GMC truck to haul it into one unit. I'm not sure if it would have been available for AA cover for Bridges then, but It is on my WWII show. The kit was available stateside, my main reason for the purchase. It was reasonably priced also, another consideration for us fixed income guys.
Here is the link to my build page for it.
Well summer sure cuts into model time. But I have some progress on my build. No promises but the hot weather has me modeling again, so maybe I'll get'er done soon.

Follow the link on post below, this one was broken.

Summer heat is finally drove me back to the modeling bench. How about the rest of you? I've put a hour or two this week on my Bofor's truck, mostly some detail painting on the frame before putting the cab and platforms on.
Hope to get back to the bench in a day or two for a long session.

Dave, that link works fine. The model's coming right along and looking good so far.

As for the stiff brass, have you tried annealing it before working with it? That'll usually soften it up pretty nicely.

No I haven't tried annealing. I'm going to try that the next time. I found a you tube on it..Thanks for the info.
I just got my quad fifty M16 Dragon Smart kit for my Diorama. I'm liking AA trucks lately...

I've got some more work done on the gun assembly. The model is nearing completion assembly wise, and I hope to get painting on the upper assemblies in a few days. I've updated the pics.
Trouble right now is...it's so beautiful outside...

I painted the seats first with Tamiya Black X-1. Then dry brushed the wear areas with Tamiya flat black, XF-1. After the paint had dryed for a short time I sprayed it with satin clear coat. By spraying the clear coat so soon after painting I was hoping to acheive a crackle effect. The material used back then often would crack and wear quickly , more so on an open cab unit like this. I did all this to the seat before gluing in place.

I forgot to mention I added flat white to grey out my Tamiya XF-1 to a desirable color.

I've loosely placed the final assemblies before the paint job to see how the truck looks. I've glued several items on today so no paint till tomorrow. It'll be Tamiya OD. I want to weather some of the harder to reach areas also before I glue them in place. I've been leaving the most delicate parts off till I am very close to completion.

Looks excellent so far. Will you add figures or make this part of a diorama?

I'd like to find some suitable fiqures, as this is a Free French unit, it may be a kitbash figure affair before me. I will display this unit on my ongoing WWII Western Front Diorama till I build a suitable US replacement.
