One side of tracks is complete. Most of the rest is cleaned up, but not assembled.

Looks good Jess! Let me know how it works out by painting the tracks on the sprue. I didnt use any glue on the Panda tracks I used on Cobra King. I had to handle them carefully, but they worked great like that and allowed them to be fully workable.

On the first run, it's working great. In fact, I think the paint is helping to keep the tracks even tighter [without glue], as I haven't had ANY links slip off on me, even when I was trying to thread the run of tracks over the return rollers and through the sand shields.

That said, I will have to go back and touch up the paint, so maybe it's not saving me much time. We'll see.

Thanks Gary! Blame yourself for that stowage painting. I really liked how you did the stowage on your Staghound. You can also blame yourself for my using lacquer thinner to thin Tamiya paints.

Great progress, Jesse! Can't wait for the tracks and final weathering. The best part is I'll be able to see this one "in the flesh" in Atlanta.

Both runs built. They need paint tonight. Maybe some weathering too depending on what time I can get to the bench.

Terry, Eric,

Good seeing you guys at the show. Thanks. I'm really honored that the Grant took home Best Commonwealth. It was up against some very nice pieces.

I'll be posting some photos, hopefully later tonight of the finished project. The last couple weeks before the show were such a rush that I didn't really photograph much.

And correction... it'll be at least Wednesday since my SD card in my camera went kaput just now... grumble.

Congratulations, Jesse. All your awards are well deserved. Once I saw your Grant on display, there was never any doubt in my mind. Another one of your builds that reaches up, grabs you by the neck, and screams "look at me". Looking forward to more of your work.

Joel, Tom,

Thanks guys!

Tom, you'll see the beginnings of the Grant's sister at the next meeting if you can make it.

Amazon got my new SD card to me a day early...

So here we go... a ton of pictures of the 'finished' project. For those who weren't there, this took home a gold medal and "Best Commonwealth" at the 2013 AMPS National Convention this past weekend.

A well deserved gold. I'm building the Egyptian version. Why is the axe marking grouped with "battleaxe", on one side and not the other?

Hi Jesse,

Fine work, congrats. The figures set it off nicely, enjoyed the build and you have an excellent model there.

There's only 2 known photos of Battleaxe, so the right side is per the photographs, and the left side is left up to some artistic interpretation.

Thanks Al! Glad you could follow along, and have to say that you set the bar pretty high with your Grant build.

Are those side hatches blocked off so you won't be tempted to do another interior? :-D
