Agreed. Lovely sculpts. I like how you do the ropes with twisted wire as well. This should paint up nicely!!

Fine progress. The third figure is developing well and I like the beard and the additional work on the mule.

Wow, Gérard. Did you say a ten year breake from building models?

What is the difference between the two products you are using for the figures? (grey/yellow muliput)

This build is awesome, please don't wait long before the next update. - Johan.

The gray medium is Sculpey Firm, a polymer clay to cook. The advantage is that I can work for long.

Thank!

The fur on the mule/donkey is excellent! I've always found livestock, in 1:35, to lack a realistic finish. The beard is also a nice touch. What did you use for rope? I take the usual route of sewing thread or kite string, but yours looks much better.

For the rope I use fine wire annealed copper twisted pair

Hi Gerard,

Everything is looking good. I like the angle of the hill for the fallen soldier.

Are you going to finish it in a muddy or snowy setting?

Cracker build of the figures and animal and nice work on the Breda. The mule looks nice and stubborn. Everything fits well together.

Terrific stuff.

Bravo Gerard!
At what stage are you baking the Sculpey? In pieces, as you finish a section, or is it all still soft in the photos so far?

It is very variable

This just before I add in the miliput

Here before the legs, I had to cut the support Milliput which I served to make the coat

And a second firing after carving the legs

Thank to all!

Is glue needed when you combine evergreen plastic with the putty of the figures, or does it stick right on?
How do you get the smooth finish of the coats? water, tools?

Love your work Gerard, - Johan

All materials can stick in the dough, just to slightly melt the Sculpey Firm with a solvent (hydrocarbon) before placing the piece.
Be careful with the plastic parts, the Sculpey be baked to harden!
I get the smoothing with a dry brush at the start and by moistening slightly with the solvent to complete

I use synthetic brushes
