This is the Willy's that I built for the currently ongoing Jeep Campaign, but would like to get some more feedback on how I did with the weathering. This was my first attempt at adding more detail to a kit.

I used pastel chalk pigments and enamel thinner.

The kit was painted using all Tamiya Acrylics, either airbrushed or hand painted on. I like the way it came out, but would like some other opinions as well (of course my 2 year old and my wife will say I did a good job! )

nice work ,AngryEchoSix. your jeep looks good, I like decor, but you should "dirty" your rope, it seems too clean.

Also while your hood/bonnet is dirty, the grill is clean!

The road and ground work look very good, though that red is more Vietnam in my head than Europe or Italy.

Good! I was shooting for Okinawa, Japan with the dirt color. I'm currently stationed there, and looked at a few different spots around the island to try and get the color matched.

That looks like every vehicle I ever rode in on Okinawa. Good job SSGT, Gung Ho, Ouhh Rahh, and Semper Fi.

Thanks for the words of approval/encouragement. I too, agree that the grill could use some more crud on it. I think I got too focused on the making sure the wheel wells and tires were "done" in my book. Tunnel vision got the best of me. Oh well, lesson learned!

Great looking Jeep. I especially like the effect under the fenders. Now all you need is a figure or two.

One other tip I'd give you is the bag you attached to the side of the hood need to be attached somewhere with the strap. The way it is now it yould just fall off.

Cheers!

For a first try Staff this is very cool ..ten times better than my first effort which looked like rolled snail crap by comparison .
I do agree with the rest of the guys ..the inside of your fenders look good but the bumper and rope are too clean as is the grill .
But the overall paint job is very nice mate ,very nice matey all in all

Here are some updated pictures, with some additional weathering done. This now sits proudly on my desk at work. I'm calling this one complete! Can't wait to build some more!
