I am planning to build a Trumpeter T-62 mod 1962 soon. But before that, I just need to know a few things first.

What is the difference between T-62 model 1962 and 1972?
What T-62 model participated on 1991 Operation Desert Storm?

Thanks! : )

There are three basic production variants of the T-62: Model 1962, 1967 and 1972.
Basic differences are:
1962: Early engine deck (with access hatches and wading rails), early turret (no 12.7mm).
1967: Late engine deck (no access hatches and wading rails but WITH wading hatches), early turret(no 12.7mm).
1972: Late engine deck (no access hatches and wading rails but WITH wading hatches), late turret (with 12.7mm)

Have one picture of an m1962 from Iraq but it have an T-55 MG-cupola welded to the loaders hatch. See this thread:

They had different engine decks and different track links

Mod 1962

Mod 1972

More of that, mod 72 could carry the DShk machine gun

Regarding the first Gulf war, look here

As you can notice, both of the models were emploied, it depends on the specific exemplar which you'd like to replicate

...Yes, Erik has been more exhaustive than me

different track links

Small point of disagreement:
Type of tracks are not connected to the basic production versions. AFAIK all three versions were originally delivered with dmsh tracks.

Rmsh ('T-72 style') are a later upgrade done to any of the version.

Maybe, but a picture is worth a thousand words. I'll call it teamwork.

Great help comrades! Really helped a lot. I plan to build my T-62 in a 1991 Gulf War campaign. So it can sit to my ZSU-23-4m (not yet painted).
