As far as I know, but I might be wrong, B (bastion) version was emplyed by eastern Germany Army and Czech in the early eighties. Polish version was very close but it was provided with a different laser range finder

I can confirm the NVA used them in '86. I saw them not in but around Berlin during that time frame.

Dave,
I'm currently working on a Czech AM2B. The East-German ones came from Czech stocks but the Ossies made some mods to the tanks.
You have a comprehensive walkaround of a NVA tank at Prime Portal.
All the AM2 got the RMSh (T-72) tracks. Some even got rubber pads in the Czech army.

Hi Dave;
Finland also had a T-55 that was close to the AM2B version, the main versions that ive seen are in the Lazer Range Finder above the 100mm Gun. Most have the T-72 style RMSH tracks.
CHEERS; MIKE.

look here Dave

Considering that they were derived from Polish and Czech exemplars, track links must have been only the latest one. They could also have different engine decks
I have quite a lot of pics about the AM2 Kladivo (Polish Czech and German versions) I might have some pics depicting the B variant but I should check. If you need them, let me know
Cheers

East German T-55AM2
On the basis of the Warrant of 80/86 issued by the East German Ministry of defence should be in the range of years 1986 to 1989 for the needs of the East German Army (NVA) modernized 291 tanks series T-55AM/T-55AM (P) produced in Czechoslovakia and Poland (the letter P in brackets in the East German nomenclature mean that the tank was manufactured in PLR) to the standard T-55AM2/T-55AM2 (P). Of the total number was 50 tanks (designated T-55AM2B/T-55AM2B (P)) is fitted with rocket complex 9K116. The modernisation ensures the German ship race RWN Neubrandenburg and its scope was the same as in the case of the Czechoslovak T-55AM2 (a more powerful engine for Germany's "téček" carried the designation W-55U). Cost of upgrading one tank amounted to about 1.4 million Germany's marek (T-55AM2), almost 2 million in the case of T-55AM2B. In 1985 he was in EAST GERMANY came from the USSR, the first sample piece T-55AM2, a year later, followed by another model T-55AM2, which was subsequently modified to perform the T-55AM2B.

And do any of these AM2B have fired in anger ?
Russian produced equivalent (T-55AM) did but what about those Polono-Czech products ?
Some must have been sold to warring countries, I think.

We talked about the B version. T-55 AM-2 was employed to other countries. AM-2B was a variant built and utilized only by the Germans and the Czech. As far as I know not even the Russian had it and luckily, this version has never emploied in war operations
