Still me, still the quizmaster. The more I get into details, the more I love this tank. Hence, I want to be as precise as I can. In most photos on the web, ie this https://gallery.kitmaker.net/uploads/27852/still_without.jpg or this https://gallery.kitmaker.net/uploads/27852/without.jpg, these armour seem welded onto the fender. But I clearly remember (well, I printed it so I am sure of what I am saying) a walkaround from Scott Dimmick (which I cannot any longer track down! so no photos to show in this post, sorry) where all armour are welded to supports with bolts, nuts and all the rest. both to the front and to the back of the armours. which version is correct please?

Hi Stefano;
Are you refering to the Armored Boxes on the fenders. If you are, the Boxes were Welded to the Fenders & the Fender Support Ribs. the added weight was so Heavy that the Fenders were Bent Downward. In Concords Book called Wrecks and Fortifacations there are Photos of Enigmas that were Captured by the Allied Forces
CHEERS; MIKE.

The armor boxes are attached to the fenders through nuts and bolts.
Here is a picture of the tank preserved at Mourmelon without the sides boxes attached. You can see the holes through which the bolts were screwed.
BTW if you look at the pictures of the review of the Accurate Armour conversion I published for the site, you will see pictures of the brackets inside the armor boxes.

Firstly, sorry. I am a dummie and I made a silly mistake when uploading the photos..so the click on the link returns an error 404 page! Old age. However, let's try again, now that I also managed to retrive Scott's photos. Mourmelon and Bovington Enigma don't seem to have any support or attachments for the armoured boxes: i.e. https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showphoto.php/photo/388122/ppuser/27852 or https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showphoto.php/photo/388121/ppuser/27852 (now links are correct, sorry again).
But in Scott's photos i.e. https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showphoto.php/photo/388171/ppuser/27852 (boxes front)and https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showphoto.php/photo/388170/ppuser/27852 (back of the boxes)You can see such things. They look like the deatils in the photo of your review you mention in your last reply, but that image is too small for my old eyes to judge. which form is correct, Scott's or Mourmelon/bovington please?

Both are correct. It all depends on exactely which vehicle you decide to build. Probably some small alternation made to the mounting process while the T-55's where upgraded with the Enigma-armour(seem like ALL versions of vehicles have small alternations made during production that makes life hard for modellers later on).

Stefano,
Erik is right you can see both variants and the Accurate Armour conversion allows you to add those hinges to depict a specific tank.
Sorry for my wrong initial answer, at first I thought you were speaking of the side armor blocks.

Nothing to apology for Erik. my fault as I made a amisteka with pictures link in first place. PS mind you, I am getting very picky with details with this tank. the more I add and the more I want to add. next is going to be the cast numbers. what do they refer to? is the ones on the turret and the ones on the gear cover (underneath)?
