Hello all!
I'm working on my first ever tank and have a couple questions with regards to painting the engine hatch cover.
First off, which color should I paint underneath the hatch? I've just masked it off and was about to prime it and paint it before I glued the hatch over the top.
After I do that, what's the best way to paint the hatch? Will the spray from the airbrush pass through the mesh? Would it be best for me to paint it up separate before glueing it on? I was hoping to paint the whole thing as a unit to give it a bit of cohesiveness, but if the paint may spray through then perhaps it's best not to.
Thanks!

The underneath of the cover would be painted the same 4BO as the whole vehicle. It is probably easier to paint it with the entire model, while keeping the cover separate. It could be glued on its' place after the painting but before weathering.
