Hi guys,
Id like to ask your thoughts if the T-62 mod 1972 from Trumpeter were used by combatants during the Iran-Iraq War or Yom Kippur War ? I have this in my stash and Im considering what to build out of it (Iranian, Iraqi, Egyptian or Syrian)
Thanks guys!

Hi iking;
The T-62 could have been used in all of those conflects.
Most pics of the Yom Kippur war will show you the Early version without the AA gun. As for the Iran, Iraq war there were mostly 72s with the AA gun. All of the Countrys you have stated had T-62s, Iran is another story
Research is a Good source for info, use the Net & you should find all the info you can handle.
CHEERS; MIKE.

Yes Iran has T-62's, it's a mixture of both Russian and North Korean copies.
Here's a site worth checking out with tons of Iranian t-55's and T-62's, go to operational units tab for the list of equipment.

Thanks guys! Kruppw, the link that you provided is awesome! ill try to use that and gather ideas for my build.
I tried to check google before i posted this thread but cant seem to find if the tank is a 72 model, 67 or 61 hehe!
I love t-62 but im not tht familiar on how to differentiate between these models :S i only know that '61 is diff from '72 model based on the engine deck but i become lost when checking if the kit is a '67 model :S
thanks again!

It's always a mess untill you know what to look for:
I'll quote my "standard" answer:
There are three basic production variants of the T-62: Model 1962, 1967 and 1972.
Basic differences are:
1962: Early engine deck (with access hatches and wading rails), early turret (no 12.7mm).
1967: Late engine deck (no access hatches and wading rails but WITH wading hatches), early turret(no 12.7mm).
1972: Late engine deck (no access hatches and wading rails but WITH wading hatches), late turret (with 12.7mm)
Mauro provided photos of the engine decks here:

so it seems that the turret of the early t-62 trumpy kit can be swapped with the turret of the 1972 trumpy kit to make a 67 kit...hmmm..
thanks again guys for the help!
cheers iking

Same thing can happen with the T-62M1 / M-1 can both be either a model 67 or 72. Trumpeter's new kit they so call the BDD is really a T-62M series. But yes most if not all Russian tank can be a bit confusing at times. The M series is just as bad as the straight 62/67/72 model with different gunner's sites and equipment that can be changed out.
I'm currently planning to build a T-62m1 Mod 67 with BTU-55 dozer blade using both their new BDD kit and model 62 kit.
