I'm fairly certain that the early and late have different road wheels. The early has solid spokes while the late have a hole in each spoke. Don't quote me on this though haha. But, I would really like to know for certain the difference, there's not much info in English out there on the 2S3.

There are also Early and Late tracks, but they are interchangeable with vehicles.
Other changes may have more to do with inside the vehicle than outside.

From what I could see on various pictures and the model preserved at the Saumur museum, the back of the turret is also different.

My 2s3 arrived today from Spruebrothers. At first glance it looks to be a good kit. It has individual link tracks, a small fret of photo etch, decal and painting options for a Soviet or East German vehicle. It doesn't have a metal barrel and I'm curious to know more about the 3 tone East German camouflage. Any thoughts?

3 Tone camo wasn't introduced until '89 so very few vehicles actually got the scheme. Pics of the scheme seem to be pretty rare.
