I got the Trumpeter 1/35 LAV III kit and I would like to get an upgrade / detail set for it, but I'm a bit baffled by the options out there.

The Black Dog LORIT kit looks comprehensive, but I would prefer photo-etch for the blast shields and cargo containers on the side, especially since it looks like these have the cargo molded in, which would be a pain to clean up and paint.

The Real Model LORIT upgrade looks more like what I want, but the descriptions are contradictory: the box art says "Update PE & Resin Set", but the website description says "PE parts-only side baskets." So is it PE side baskets, or stowage as well? Or is it intended to be paired with the LAV III Update Set? If it is, where does the stowage in the side baskets come from? Do I have to buy a third set to get the gear?

Are there other upgrade kits for the Trumpeter LAV III that I'm not aware of?

I wish companies would post a photo showing a clear breakdown of everything that's included in their update sets so I don't have to try to infer what I will be getting if I buy them. This feels more like detective work than modelling.

Both sets you listed have pros and cons.

The Blackdog set does have the stowage molded in the hulls bins but it does include the proper front mounted spare tire rack.

The Real Model set does not include the front mounted spare tire rack but the PE bins are fantastic. There is a bunch of resin kit included in the LORIT upgrade set.

Neither set includes the proper hull bottom add-on armour. Real Model has now released this as a separate set.

Voyager Model also has a bunch of sets (PE and 25 mm gun) for the LAV III. Nothing for the LORIT version but they do enhance the basic kit.

Blackdog has an excellent set of modern Canadian stowage....perfect for the Real Model bins if you want to add more.
