This is my 1/35 Eastern Express BMP-2. I just wanted to get this thing DONE! Been sitting on my shelf for YEARS. So here it is. Nothing really special. Work I did on it was:

Model Point barrel
New Mantlet cover from tissue/white glue
Master Club resin tracks
Decals from spares box
SP Designs AT-4
Added vanes to the rear venting

This is to prove I am more than just a commentator on this forum!

An interesting model, although there are some errors. First is the armor of the airborne troops, BMD-2. Markings on BMD are put on the left side, not in the middle. I also did not like the base color, since the Soviet-Russian armored vehicles are not painted. Vision devices in the photo look black, in fact, they have a bluish glow. Hard to see in the photo, but the front parking lights should be green, rear, red. As far as can be seen in the photo, the lack of many welds on the hull, handrails too thick, no different mounts, both on the body and in the tower, where the sheet is attached and other items. The launcher is painted the same color as the body, it is not correct, launch canisters painted their own special paint, like a mustard color. Form of an antenna are incorrect. Photo etched really would decorate the model.

Olegas, and all, you are correct. I totally screwed up in my title...it is a BMD-2. Yeesh, I must be VERY tired...

Olegas, I know of all the problems you listed. I just wanted this old kit finished up and put to the side. It was not meant to be a great build, just proof I can finish something!

I have the MUCH better Zvezda BMD-1 and BMD-2 kits to work on as well, and they will be done much nicer.

Jacques,
nice build and finished too!

The tracks, were they the pinned ones or the resin click togthers?

That's where my build stalled. It has taken me a while to realize that when my hobby becomes a source of frustration, it's time to shelve the thing..I've got a lot of shelf queens.

How did you accomplish the rainmarks/fading on the bottom edges of the upper hull sides? Oil paint dots and, holding the kit upside down, streak/pull down (toward the top of the kit) or did you use something else?

They are the resin click together. I thought they actually went together pretty darn well. They are delicate though.

The effect comes from selective airbrush painting, using very thin Tamiya Buff for dust, some paint dot effects, and a little bit of pigments. I think it still looks pretty plain compared to what I would have done, and I left off a lot of little details as Olegas mentioned, but at least I can move on...
