1. Where were the fuel fillers on a T-34 M1940?
2. What was the body color of Soviet WW II optics, in particular the turret hatch periscope in early T-34s?
Thanks,
KL

This one is a M1942, but I guess (judging by this TM drawing ) the fillers are the same :

I believe the filler is covered by the diamond-shaped part with bolts on both ends, on the right close to the turret...There's the same part on the other side.

I had forgotten the rear fuel tanks...I guess the filler is just above the handrail in this picture (same on the other side) under the bolted cover :

EDIT : looks like I was right :

Almost There was four fuel caps - two next to the turret for the forward fuel tanks (just as you've mentioned) and two more under the the rear cover located on both sides from the engine louvers (red arrows).
The blue arrows show the oil tanks.
Hard to judge about the periscope color from b/w photos but it was either black or a very dark color.

Hi;
Are you talking about the turret periscopes that were under the
armored caps, if you are the Prisem was very small. When looking at them from afar they were Silver Like in Color, the optic was
very small size wise. Also i dont think the Soviets had Coated Optics in the Glass, the other vision Periscopes on the turret were Colorless. Maybe you could say Gloss Black from Certain angels.
CHEERS; MIKE.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what i was looking for. I wondered which areas would have the most wear, and what to paint the outside of the periscope in the turret hatch.
Thx again,

I've just noticed the site I've mentioned has a picture that shows the rear fuel tanks fillers...
